Thunderwave Sword

Each slash calls lightning down on nearby enemies. Lightning buildup is +6 on Fextralife and +3 on Game8 — a clean doubling, which is the pattern that runs through the whole elemental set.

When to use it

The first sword that applies a status rather than adding damage, and IGN's weaknesses guide is the reason to care: buildup is how this game's eight damage types actually pay off. An elite drop rather than a purchase, so it costs a fight instead of Amber.

Where it sits in the weapon catalogue

  • Its published attack figure is "51 enhanced (Fextralife) / 21 base (Game8)". No other catalogued Sword entry prints that figure, which in a catalogue where seven swords share one number is itself worth knowing.
  • It deals Electric, which three other catalogued weapons also do: Fall Thunder, Lightning Arrows and Lightning Bolts. What each damage type actually does is the page that argues the swap.
  • Its location puts it in Ancient Civilization Zone, in the Kanto Region — the segment this site indexes as Chapter 2, second of the 13 marked segments after the prologue.

Builds using this

  • Thunderwave lightningBltzZ explains it at 00:00
Every slash calls lightning down on a nearby enemy while the effect is up, normally triggered by parrying. Build-up is stated as +6 with the node maxed and the effect as about five seconds. The spelling is the creator’s own, typed into his chapter marker rather than read off captions, and it matches the catalogue record.
