Beast of Reincarnation Player Questions

Straight answers to the Beast of Reincarnation questions the guides skip: whether Koo dies, where the Foreman actually is when you are stuck in the first area, whether ultrawide is supported, where pre-order content is claimed and what to do when it is missing, how long the game really takes, and whether ray tracing is worth the frames.

Questions with answers the guides skip, because the honest answer is "the game does not do that yet" or "nobody has published that number". Each page states the answer first, shows the dated evidence, and says what would have to change for the answer to move. Where a source predates the 30 July cutoff — pre-release preview footage, February marketing captures — we say so, because treating pre-launch material as a description of the shipped build is the most common mistake in this corner of the internet. Where a source carries no publication date at all, we say that too, rather than dating it to the day we read it and letting it pass as current.

The questions, and the short answers

Can you change the voice language, and why is the option missing?

Yes, and the reason you cannot find it is not that it is missing. Beast of Reincarnation is fully voiced in both English and Japanese, it defaults to Japanese, and the switch lives at Settings › Languages › Voice-Over Language — but only on the title screen. Open Settings mid-run and there is no Voice-Over row to find, which is why players conclude the game is Japanese-only.

Why is my controller not working in Beast of Reincarnation?

There is no single controller fault — five distinct ones are being reported, and mixing them up is why the fixes people pass around do not work. Only one has been acknowledged by the developer, and not one of the five has a published fix.

How do you craft in Beast of Reincarnation?

There is no single crafting menu. Ammunition uses arrow/bolt manuals, Koo items use their own manuals through Item Research at the Cleanse Walker, cooking uses cook books, and equipment enhancement spends Amber. Treat “manual” as a family of unlocks, not as one crafting screen.

Does Koo die in Beast of Reincarnation?

No — the player who answered says Koo is alive at the end, the person who asked accepted it, and a developer locked the thread as answered, though no developer has stated the outcome in their own words.

Is there a field-of-view slider?

No. There is no field-of-view slider in the game’s settings, and unlike ultrawide — which the developer has twice said is being worked on — no first-party statement mentions field of view in any form. The only thing that adds one is a third-party UE4SS mod.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Does Beast of Reincarnation support ultrawide monitors?

Not yet, and now officially imminent. The shipped build still pillarboxes at 21:9 and 32:9 on 1.0.8.0, but the 15 August patch notes name ultrawide monitor support as in the final stages of testing and to be released soon — the strongest statement on record, and the only item on that twelve-item list with any timing. Until it ships, everything that removes the black bars is an unofficial third-party mod. Which mod to install is a separate question and has its own page.

Why can I not talk to Kagura, and how do I get unstuck?

There are two of these and they are not related. On PC, an interact key that is bound to something else stops the dialogue starting at all — two players fixed it by rebinding, and v1.0.7 added a supported remap for that button. On PS5, after the Chapter 2 boss returns you to the Cleanse Walker, Kagura can repeat one line while the game refuses to let you sleep until you talk to her; that one reproduces on fresh saves and nobody has published a fix.

I am stuck in the first area — where is the Foreman?

The Foreman is underground in Sub-City 1 — the red-smoke rest point is the lookout tower rather than the objective, so take the stairs down instead of climbing.

3 sources · read the evidence →

Where is the Red Key in Beast of Reincarnation?

Go to Subcity 03 during Chapter 1’s “Toward the Nushi’s Lair” route, after the first Rangifer fight. A Retired Gatekeeper Golem gives you the Red Key during the story path.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Where is the Blue Key in Beast of Reincarnation?

On a high platform in the Ogouchi Buffer Zone, lying on the ground in front of a broken golem, reached by climbing rather than through a door. Where that platform is depends on which guide you read: Video Games Chronicle puts it at the Lookout Shack, north-east across the drowned ruins, and Into Indie Games puts it just east of the Subcity 03 entrance under a plume of red smoke. Nobody has published anything that settles which.

My pre-order bonus is missing — how do I get it?

For the Steam pre-order Deluxe entitlement issue, Valve has added the missing entitlement. Restart Steam if the DLC is not visible immediately; if it still persists, report it in the official thread.

3 sources · read the evidence →

Where do I claim my pre-order and Deluxe Edition content?

At the Cleanse Walker bed, through the "Special Content" menu, after you finish the prologue — the content is not handed to you at the title screen.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Can you create or customise your character in Beast of Reincarnation?

No. There is no character creator, no appearance editor and no class choice. You play Emma, a named protagonist with her own story, accompanied by Koo, a named dog. The only things that can be altered are three cosmetic items — two skins for Koo and one hat for Emma — and every one of them is attached to a purchase rather than to anything you can do in the game.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Is there an interactive map for Beast of Reincarnation?

Not on this site. Several other sites have one, and the good ones were built by people who played the game and recorded where things were. We have not cleared it, so anything we published would be their coordinates retyped — which is worth nothing to you and is the failure mode this site is built to avoid. What we do have is a collectible tracker that counts sets without pretending to know where they are, and a record for each of the fourteen regions.

1 sources · read the evidence →

Is Beast of Reincarnation open world?

No. The game runs through fourteen named regions in a fixed order — Ogouchi Buffer Zone, Ancient Civilization Zone, Great Wall Terraces and eleven more — and two independent sources corroborate that sequence. It is a chaptered action RPG with a hub you return to, not one contiguous map. How freely you move within a single region is a different question, and nobody has published an answer to it.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Is Beast of Reincarnation a soulslike?

This is a contested label rather than a fact about the game, and we are not going to settle a genre argument by assertion — the publisher calls it an action RPG that fuses real-time and turn-based combat, and the mechanics below are what is actually established.

3 sources · read the evidence →

How long does Beast of Reincarnation take to beat?

No verified figure exists. Four sites publish estimates spanning roughly 20 to 60 hours, only one of them says where its number came from, and all of their completion figures sit above the one run anybody can actually check — an uploaded 100% capture that lasts 19h 13m.

5 sources · read the evidence →

Is there a new game plus in Beast of Reincarnation?

Yes, and it is called Reincarnation+. Weapons, armour, levels, skills and their upgrades carry over — two independent sources agree on that much, and Game8 adds Amber, spirit stones, charms, recipes and most items on its own word. Three things it says do not carry: key items, fast-travel points and documents. Nothing first-party describes any of it, so every list here is a third party’s and is graded as one.

6 sources · read the evidence →

What does Vigor do?

Vigor is a temporary buff to Emma’s attack. It is granted in tiers of 1, 2 or 3 by spirit stones, and the stones differ in what triggers it rather than in what it does — Onslaught grants it when a battle begins, Well of Vigor when Emma drops below half health.

2 sources · read the evidence →

What does Deft Paws do?

Deft Paws is described as a Koo passive that automatically crafts a replacement from ingredients you are carrying when an equipped item’s stock falls below a threshold — one written source says so, and nothing corroborates it.

1 sources · read the evidence →

Does ray tracing do anything in Beast of Reincarnation?

Almost nothing you can see — it costs about 2% of framerate in a quiet scene and up to 7% elsewhere, and in places it switches off screen-space reflections without replacing them, so turn it off.

2 sources · read the evidence →

I turned the wheel and the hatch is shut — is the run recoverable?

Nobody has published a recovery. Two players hit this independently, no developer has replied to either, no guide site covers it, and no reload-from-an-earlier-save procedure has been posted anywhere — which also means nobody has established that the run is actually lost.

6 sources · read the evidence →

How many endings does Beast of Reincarnation have?

Nobody has published a verified number. Neither established wiki has an endings page at all, no video answers the question, the public achievement list contains no branch-specific achievement, and the single site publishing a count names triggers that appear in no first-party source.

7 sources · read the evidence →

What triggers the Sharpshooter Stone?

Nobody has published a trigger condition. The one player who asked spent about an hour deliberately landing weakness attacks without firing it, the thread has no replies, and neither established wiki nor any guide or outlet documents the item.

3 sources · read the evidence →

The game will not launch and shows CreateProcess() return 11c7. What is that?

One player reported this and traced it themselves to Windows Smart App Control refusing to run a self-signed executable. Nobody has confirmed that reading and no developer has replied. If it is right, the fix belongs to the publisher — the executable needs signing — and not to you.

1 sources · read the evidence →

The screen went black after the Rangifer fight and stayed black. What now?

Nobody has answered it. One player reports the screen going black after the Rangifer fight and staying black — no crash, no error, no return to gameplay. The report has drawn no replies and no developer response, and nobody has said whether the save survives it.

2 sources · read the evidence →

The game does not recognise my save data after a crash or power cut. Is it gone?

Nobody has published a recovery procedure, and nobody has said whether the data is recoverable at all. What is unusual about this report is the reply: a developer answered it and did not offer a solution. That is not the same as being ignored, and it is not the same as being fixed.

1 sources · read the evidence →

Is the Entanglement Overdrive boss arena a softlock?

Nobody has confirmed or refuted it. One player reports a boss arena that appears to require the Entanglement Overdrive skill with the autosave written at the boss; the report has drawn no replies, no developer has answered it, and none of the three conditions that would make it a genuine softlock has been established.

3 sources · read the evidence →

Why is the resolution capped at 1080p on my 4K display?

Nobody has published a cause and nobody has published a working fix. The developer has acknowledged a resolution-reporting bug, and that is the whole of the official record — the two workarounds circulating, DPI scaling and Windows fullscreen optimisations, are untested guesses that nobody has confirmed.

4 sources · read the evidence →

Is the latest patch out, and what is in v1.0.8?

Yes, twice. v1.0.7 shipped on 9 August 2026 and v1.0.8 on 15 August, and the second is the bigger one: twenty-four items including DLSS 4/4.5 (L/M) and FSR 4 on PC, camera distance presets, five subtitle sizes, stronger Bloom Arts and a shortened main route in the Pilgrim’s Zone. Your client should read 1.0.8.0 on Steam and Xbox Series, or 1.006.000 on PS5. Ultrawide monitor support is the next named thing and the publisher says it is in final testing.

8 sources · read the evidence →

Is there an optional Yellow Key door?

Almost certainly not. The Yellow Key is one of the three keys that open the gate to the Nushi’s Lair, and that appears to be all it does. The claim that it also opens an optional building north of the river traces to a single guide with no location and no screenshot, and four players in one Steam thread — including one who says they swept the map three or four times — report that the building is not there.

5 sources · read the evidence →

Why is there no text in the menus?

It is a known and unfixed bug, not a setting you have missed. Text disappears from menus, map, inventory and skill tree while the rest of the game renders. A developer has named hybrid-graphics laptops as one cause and says an earlier case was traced to the game running on the integrated GPU — but a player on a discrete RTX 4060 Laptop GPU reported identical symptoms in the same thread, so that explanation does not cover every case.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Why does healing not respond when I press it?

Nobody has established which of two things is happening, and they call for opposite responses. Either the game is dropping inputs — a bug, and nothing you do changes it — or healing is being refused because you are still in an animation, in which case the fix is spacing rather than pressing harder. Players report both shapes, one player has published the state list that would explain the second, and no developer has replied to the thread.

3 sources · read the evidence →

Does Beast of Reincarnation have cross-save between platforms?

Within one ecosystem, yes; between ecosystems, no. Xbox lists the game as Xbox Play Anywhere with Xbox cloud saves, so an Xbox console and a Windows PC on the same account share progress. Steam carries Steam Cloud, which syncs between your own Steam PCs. PlayStation lists neither cross-save nor cross-progression. No storefront publishes anything that moves a save between Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

3 sources · read the evidence →

Is Beast of Reincarnation Steam Deck Verified?

No. Valve rates it Unsupported on Steam Deck — not merely unverified — on a single test result, graphics performance. The same rating call returns Playable for SteamOS and Verified for Steam Machine, so this is a Deck-hardware verdict rather than a Linux one. It is still worth knowing that the badge and the experience are different questions: a specialist who measured the game got about 30fps and called it playable, and that has its own page.

4 sources · read the evidence →

Is Beast of Reincarnation on Game Pass?

Yes — day one on 4 August 2026, on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, across Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld and PC. Essential and Premium are not named in the announcement, and the Deluxe content is a separate $9.99 purchase either way.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Is Beast of Reincarnation coming to Switch 2?

No Switch 2 version has been announced. In January 2026 director Kota Furushima told IGN there was "nothing to announce right now" about platforms beyond the three already named, and no announcement has followed.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Does Beast of Reincarnation have Denuvo?

No third-party DRM is disclosed. The Steam store page carries no DRM notice and the store’s own API returns no `drm_notice` field for the app — and because Valve requires publishers to declare third-party DRM there, that absence is evidence rather than silence.

2 sources · read the evidence →

Is there a Beast of Reincarnation demo?

No. There is no demo on Steam — the store returns only the game and its two DLC entries, and the app record carries no demo — and no publisher post has announced one. Game Pass and the standard refund windows are the two real ways to try it.

3 sources · read the evidence →

Can you skip cutscenes in Beast of Reincarnation?

Mostly. Since v1.0.12, the publisher says almost all event scenes and cutscenes can be skipped, shows a Skip indicator where that applies, and lets you skip finishing animations. It is still not a 100% full-game promise: the same official note says a very small number of cutscenes remain unskippable for now and will be addressed later.

6 sources · read the evidence →

Can you change Emma’s outfit?

Reportedly not. Skill Up, reviewing after a full playthrough, says the armour icon in your inventory changes but Emma wears the same outfit from beginning to end. No second source has addressed it either way.

1 sources · read the evidence →

What happens if you look at the moon in Beast of Reincarnation?

You die. Keep the camera pointed at the crescent moon and the screen brightens, a red border closes in from the edges, and the character drops. It is deliberate: the shipped game carries a hidden achievement, "Horror in the Sky", whose internal id is ACH_CRESCENT, and 18.7% of Steam players have unlocked it.

3 sources · read the evidence →

Is Beast of Reincarnation on GeForce NOW?

No. Searching NVIDIA’s own GeForce NOW catalogue for the title returns fuzzy matches and no Beast of Reincarnation, checked 11 August 2026. Opting a game in is the publisher’s decision and takes a Steamworks setting rather than anything on NVIDIA’s side, and the publisher has neither done it nor said anything about it.

§02

Method

Why these are separate from the guides

A guide teaches you to play better. These tell you what the game does not currently do — which is a different kind of claim, and needs a different kind of evidence.

Every answer here states its verdict before its reasoning, links the dated thread it came from, and ends by saying what would have to change for the answer to stop being true. That last part matters in a live-service game: an answer without an expiry condition quietly becomes wrong.

One sourcing rule applies throughout. A player complaint is only evidence about the current build if it was posted after the 30 July 2026 launch. The most-linked matchmaking thread in this game’s history is from the May 2025 playtest, and it is still being quoted as though it described the shipped game — so every source on these pages carries its date, and pre-launch ones are labelled. Where a video’s upload date was never captured, the date shown is the day we read it and the source is labelled as such rather than counted as current.
