Beast of Reincarnation: Why Healing Does Not Respond

Two readings are live and nobody has separated them: dropped inputs, or a heal that the game refuses while you are locked in another animation. What players report, what the one mechanical explanation says, and what has not been established.

Short answer

Nobody has established which of two things is happening, and they call for opposite responses. Either the game is dropping inputs — a bug, and nothing you do changes it — or healing is being refused because you are still in an animation, in which case the fix is spacing rather than pressing harder. Players report both shapes, one player has published the state list that would explain the second, and no developer has replied to the thread.

Evidence

The answer, broken into claims

A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.

  • UnverifiedHealing sometimes does not fire despite repeated presses.

ContinuumX, 5 August 2026, with three players in the same thread reporting the same shape on heal, parry or dodge. Nobody has filmed or measured it.

  • UnverifiedHealing will not start while downed, staggered, attacking or being attacked.

DmonHiro in the same thread. One player’s account, not demonstrated and not confirmed by any developer or published source. If true it explains the symptom without a bug.

  • InferredThe two explanations have not been separated by anyone, including us.

Our read of the thread on 6 August 2026: the reports are compatible with both, and the evidence that would distinguish them — footage of a refused heal while idle and unthreatened — does not exist in public.

  • UnverifiedDefensive inputs land late or are dropped more generally.

A separate reporter on the bug megathread, whose ~1 second run-input figure is an estimate by eye. No second player has posted a measurement.

§01

What is being reported

ContinuumX describes spamming the heal button "8-9 presses sometimes and it just doesnt heal. At all", and attributes it to animation blocking: after aiming, skills, Blade Arts and assassinations the character stays locked and cannot move, dodge or parry. They report dying mid-assassination because of it. Others report the same shape on other inputs — Wildchants on healing and parrying, Valegor on dodges that sometimes do not start, Yuske on actions not registering at all. Santa frames it as confusion about when healing activates rather than as a dropped press.

§02

The one mechanical explanation anyone has offered

DmonHiro replies that healing requires the right game state and will not start while you are downed, staggered, attacking, or being attacked. If that is accurate it explains the whole symptom without a bug: a player pressing heal nine times during a combo or while taking hits would see exactly this and reasonably conclude the input was lost. It is one player’s account, typed rather than demonstrated, and no developer or published source confirms it — which is precisely why it is on this page as a claim rather than as the answer.

§03

Why the distinction matters more than usual here

These two readings give opposite advice. If inputs are being dropped, pressing again is rational and there is nothing to learn. If the heal is being refused by game state, pressing again is the mistake — the useful move is to break away first, which this game gives you a tool for: creating distance with Emma’s hair to buy the window. Getting this wrong costs runs, and every write-up we have seen picks one reading without saying it picked.

§04

The publisher has now acknowledged the delay, and named two changes for a later patch

This page spent its first ten days recording that nobody official had said anything. That ended on 15 August: the v1.0.8 patch notes list, among items planned for upcoming patches, allowing healing items to be used immediately upon taking damage rather than after a small delay, and reducing the duration of the movement slowdown while Emma is healing. Neither has shipped and neither has a date. What they establish is the part this page could not: there is a delay between taking damage and being able to heal, it is deliberate enough to need removing, and the publisher considers it worth changing. The first of the two readings below is therefore weaker than it was — some of what players are calling a dropped input is a rule.

§05

What has still not been established

Kept short and explicit, because the gaps are the honest part of this page.

  • No developer has replied to this thread, and the v1.0.8 note describes a design change rather than confirming any of the reports in it.
  • Nobody has measured anything. The nearest figure on the board is a separate reporter’s by-eye estimate of about a second between a run input and the run, which is not a measurement of healing.
  • No workaround is published, and no settings change or frame-rate cap has been reported to affect it.
  • Whether animation lock after Blade Arts and assassinations is a bug or the intended cost of those moves has not been stated by anyone.

Expiry condition

What would have to change for this answer to be wrong

An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.

The two healing changes named in the v1.0.8 notes ship, which would remove the post-damage delay and shorten the heal slowdown — after that, a heal that still fails is a different question. Failing that, someone posting frame-counted footage of a heal press that produces nothing while the character is idle and unthreatened. That single clip separates the two readings, and nobody has posted it.

Every source, with its date

A complaint posted before 30 July 2026 describes the playtest, not the game you bought, and a source whose publication date nobody captured cannot show that it postdates launch either. Both are flagged rather than quietly mixed in.

  • That the publisher lists two healing changes for upcoming patches — healing items usable immediately upon taking damage rather than after a small delay, and a shorter movement slowdown while healing. First-party confirmation that a post-damage delay exists; not a confirmation of any dropped-input report, and not a shipped fix.

  • ContinuumX’s report of eight or nine presses with no heal and the animation-lock account behind it; corroborating reports from Wildchants, Valegor and Yuske; and DmonHiro’s state-list explanation. No developer reply in the thread. Read 2026-08-06.

  • The separate, earlier input-latency report on the megathread — parries and dodges landing late or dropped, heals not firing, roughly a second between a run input and the run. Cited to show this is not a single player, and the one-second figure is that reporter’s own estimate by eye.
