Looking for a strongbox code?

The five-digit codes and the timed button orders moved to their own page, because a code is a lookup rather than a task. This page still has the routes — where each box is and how to reach it.

Every strongbox code and button sequence →

Main task · Ogouchi Buffer Zone — Subcity

Reach the Foreman in the Subcity

Route needed

Turn the wheel on the approach to the Foreman, then go down through the hatch it opens. Do not leave first.

  1. Turn the wheel on the way to the Foreman. It opens a hatch down into the subcity.
  2. Go through the hatch immediately, on the same visit.
  3. If you have already left and come back to find the hatch shut and the wheel dead, nothing published gets you past it — see the warning.

Watch out: This is the one task on this site that can end a run. Two players report that leaving the area before going through the hatch shuts it permanently and leaves the wheel non-interactive. Nobody has published a reload procedure, an earlier-save route, or a confirmation that the run is recoverable, and the developer has not replied. Treat "go through it now" as the whole guidance.

Main task · Ogouchi Buffer Zone — Subcity 03

Get the Red Key and open the main gate

Community verified

Obtain the Chapter 1 story key from the Retired Gatekeeper Golem and use it on the main gate.

  1. Progress Chapter 1 to the first Rangifer fight.
  2. Afterwards, speak to the Retired Gatekeeper Golem in Subcity 03. He gives you the Red Key.
  3. Use it on the main gate to continue, and on the Abandoned Village door if you want the detour.

Watch out: The same Retired Gatekeeper also hands over the Cirrus Sword, which is the early weapon most sources recommend. If you took the key and walked off, go back and talk to him again.

Main task · Ancient Civilization Zone (Chapter 2)

Power the Ancient Civilization Zone gate

Community verified

Reach the gate controls, activate the northern and western generators, then return to power the gate before the Lacerta route continues.

  1. Enter the Ancient Civilization Zone after the Chapter 2 opening and follow the route toward the reservoir until an Ancient Golem explains that two generators are needed.
  2. Activate the northern generator and the western generator. Rock Paper Shotgun states the two markers can be handled in either order; IGN names the same two generator objectives before the boss battle.
  3. Return to the gate controls once both generators are on, power the gate, and continue toward the Nushi encounter.

Watch out: This is a route spine, not a loot checklist. Both walkthroughs call out side pickups, Keeper Golems and Dragon Vein Shrines along the path, but this record only publishes the objective sequence the two guides independently agree on.

Exploration task · Ogouchi Buffer Zone — Cliffside Village (Chapter 1)

Open the Cliffside Village strongbox

Community verified

Enter the five-digit code on the strongbox, or beat the Elite Golem that carries it.

  1. Find the strongbox in Cliffside Village.
  2. Beat the Elite Golem nearby and it hands you the combination — that is the intended route, and the only one that needs no outside help.
  3. The number itself, and every other lock in the game, is on /strongbox-codes/. Five separate guides print the same five digits for this box.

Watch out: This record used to carry the digits. They moved on 2026-08-11, and the split is deliberate: this page is where you learn the box exists and how to reach it, /strongbox-codes/ is where you look up what to type. Two of our own URLs competing for the same four-word query is a failure this repo has already paid for once.

Exploration task · Ogouchi Buffer Zone (Chapter 1)

Open the three button-sequence strongboxes in Chapter 1

Community verified

Pass the timed button sequence on each of the three strongboxes that are not code locks.

  1. Subcity Underground. The one people search for as "Subcity 1" — and it has no code, which is why that search usually fails.
  2. Quarry Path. In the basement of a ruined hut near the Quarry Path camp: jump the ruined wall, then take the stairs down. One of the three lists says this one is not locked at all.
  3. Northern Ogouchi Buffer Zone. Unmarked, at the northern tip of the Chapter 1 map, guarded by an Elite Golem you have to beat first.

Watch out: Two kinds of strongbox exist and nothing distinguishes them until you are standing there: some are five-digit code locks and some are timed sequences. Knowing which one you are looking at before the timer starts is most of the difficulty. The button orders, and the disagreement about whether all three of these are locked, are on /strongbox-codes/ — where you can also rehearse an order before you trigger the timer.

Hidden task · All regions, plus New Game Plus

Collect every blade (Blade Collector)

Community verified

Obtain all 21 swords.

  1. Two are Emma's starting swords, so you have them already.
  2. Eighteen are found, bought or dropped across the campaign — the weapon database lists each one with its location.
  3. The twenty-first, Kanzashi, is handed over at the start of Chapter 1 of New Game Plus.

Watch out: This cannot be finished in one playthrough. Kanzashi exists only in New Game Plus, which turns a 0.5% global unlock rate from "hard to find" into "needs a second run" — and no achievement text says so. Game8 also lists a twenty-second sword, Big Dipper, that the completion run never visits; the weapon database publishes that as an open question rather than a target.

Hidden task · All regions, plus the Cleanse Walker

Collect every cook book (Gourmand)

Community verified

Obtain all 25 cook books.

  1. Four are known from the start.
  2. Nineteen are found in the world or bought from merchants — the recipe database lists each with its location and price.
  3. The last two, Supreme Curry and Supreme Onigiri, are given by Kagura at Rapport levels 8 and 10.

Watch out: The two Rapport books are why this is a long achievement rather than a thorough one: rapport rises by bringing Kagura recipes to research and by talking to her, so the final books are gated behind having already done everything else. Only the Normal rank of each book counts — Superior and Ultimate are not required.

Hidden task · All regions

Obtain every type of seedling (Green Thumb)

Route needed

Find one of every seedling type and plant it in the grow chamber.

  1. Seedlings are found in the overworld and planted in the Cleanse Walker's grow chamber, where they harvest themselves.
  2. The ingredient table in the recipe database is the closest thing to a checklist: fourteen ingredients, of which the farmable ones each have a seedling behind them.
  3. Eurogamer has since published a crop-seedling location guide. Treat it as a lead, not a checklist here: no second independent source has corroborated its roster, and this page does not reprint one site’s location notes.

Watch out: The goal is first-party — the shipped achievement text reads "Obtain every type of seedling" — and the route is still not corroborated enough for this site to publish as a checklist. Eurogamer is the first mainstream guide opened here that claims a full seedling-location list; a second independent list or an in-game inventory capture would move this from lead to roster.

Task system · The Cleanse Walker, fed from every region

Raise the Cleanse Walker's power and calculations stats

System guide

Expand the grow chamber, and unlock the Superior and Ultimate recipe ranks.

  1. Power gates crop slots. Raise it by finding generator devices and facility modules out in the field.
  2. Calculations gates recipe ranks. Raise it by collecting electronic brains.
  3. Neither stat is quantified by any source: nobody publishes what one module is worth or how many you need.

Watch out: These two are easy to conflate and they do completely different jobs. If your Superior recipes are locked, collecting more facility modules will not help — that is the calculations track, and electronic brains are the item.

Primary sourceVerified 2026-08-06

Task system · The Cleanse Walker

Keep Kagura researching

System guide

Turn found cook books into cookable recipes, and raise crop yields.

  1. Bring Kagura a cook book and choose research: cooking. She cannot cook a recipe until she has finished researching it.
  2. Choosing research: growing instead raises how much a seedling yields — the guides step +1 at Basic and +2 at Advanced.
  3. She researches one thing at a time, and switching mid-way does not lose the progress on what you switched away from.

Watch out: Finding a cook book is not the same as having the recipe, and this is the most common way to conclude that cooking is broken. If a dish whose book you are holding is not on her menu, the book is still in the research queue.

Beast of Reincarnation task index FAQ

Because the objective text is known but a repeatable location or route is not. The index leaves those gaps visible instead of inventing coordinates.

Sources for this page

  • Steam Community — the Foreman wheel and the closed hatchCommunity, fetched 2026-08-05 — two players independently hard-blocked: turning the wheel opens a hatch into the subcity, and leaving the area shuts it again with the wheel permanently non-interactive. No developer reply, no workaround published anywhere, and no confirmation that the run is recoverable. Cite it for both the blocker and the unanswered question of whether there is any recovery.
  • Steam Community — developer Q&A thread (pinned)Community with a developer post, fetched 2026-08-05 — Sam pinned this on Aug 3 promising to fill it out over the first day. It still shows 0 replies. This is the citation for the negative finding that no known-issues list and no patch notes exist, which is the reason our issues page has no competitor.
  • Game8 — Beast of Reincarnation walkthrough hubCompetitor claim, read 2026-08-05. Evidence that Game8 states about 20 to 30 hours for the main story and 30 to 40 for completion — the lowest of the four competing figures, published with no methodology and under an organisation byline with no named author or build stamp.
  • Rock Paper Shotgun — Beast of Reincarnation Chapter Two walkthroughPress walkthrough by Jeremy Blum, published 2026-08-05 and fetched 2026-08-07 — lists the Chapter Two Ancient Civilization Zone objective spine as Early Explorations, Toward the Reservoir, Defeat Every Enemy, Toward the Reservoir (Part 2), Clues About the Nushi, Gate Controls, Power the Gate and Defeat the Nushi. It states that the two generators can be handled in either order and that the task is to power a gate while pursuing Lacerta.
  • IGN — Ancient Civilization Zone Walkthrough Part 1Press walkthrough, updated 2026-08-05 and fetched 2026-08-07 — the independent second source for Chapter Two opening in the Ancient Civilization Zone, the route through Search for the Nushi and Toward the Reservoir, and the two gate-power objectives named Activate the Northern Generator and Activate the Western Generator before the boss battle.
  • Game8 — All Strongbox Code SolutionsCompetitor claim, read 2026-08-06. Evidence that Game8 publishes strongbox solutions of two kinds — five-digit codes and timed button sequences — with rewards, and that it states the Cliffside Village code 08110 is the same on every playthrough. That last claim is the interesting one and it is untested on a second save. The page also names items no other source we hold does: Facility Module, Spirit Stone Ore (S), Memory Chip, Ancient Book (Common) and a "Decayed Charm I" that does not appear in Fextralife's fifteen-charm grid. Its own banner calls the guide a work in progress.
  • Eurogamer — All Beast of Reincarnation Strongbox codes and locationsPress guide by Lottie Lynn with Kelsey Raynor, updated 2026-08-12 and re-read 2026-08-12. Independently prints the Cliffside Village strongbox code as 08110, adds late-game rows for Drowned Ruins: Interior (81239) and Crater Fortress (95889), and separates code locks from non-coded strongboxes. It also says locked strongbox codes are earned by defeating Elite Enemies or by story progress. Its Matsukawa row now conflicts with the two older lists this site holds, so that row is cited as contested rather than replaced.
  • Gamer Guru — All 21 Sword Locations (Blade Collector Trophy Guide)Hands-on, uploaded 2026-08-04 — the strongest roster evidence anyone has published. The creator numbers the swords 1 to 21 in his own chapter titles while completing Blade Collector, so the count and the spellings come from a person reading the collection screen rather than from speech-to-text. It sits here rather than in creatorSources because the video has no caption track at all: the capture in data/transcripts/gamerguru-sword-locations.md is the chapter list, not a transcript. It carries no stats and no effects — use it for the roster and the locations only.
  • Steam achievement manifest and global unlock rates for App ID 2001760Official — the shipped game’s own achievement table, served by Valve. Pairs the internal ACH_* ids with the shipped display names, which is what settles six Nushi names.
  • PowerPyx — All Cook Book LocationsTrophy guide, read 2026-08-06, and the second independent count of the set: 25 cook books, numbered in collection order, with the last two given at Kagura Rapport levels 8 and 10 rather than found. It ties the set to the Gourmand achievement and states that only the Normal version of each book is collected, so Superior and Ultimate are not required for it. It fills the five locations Fextralife marks WIP and it publishes no ingredients or effects at all — the two sources are complementary rather than competing, which is why both are cited on every record.
  • IGN — Everything You Need to Know About CookingHands-on, uploaded 2026-08-04 — the only source anywhere that explains the cooking system end to end, and the only one that publishes a number for a dish: Fried Egg at +5 HP and +1 Attack, read off the screen at 05:30. Also the source for the two cooking systems (campfire auto-grilling against Kagura at the Cleanse Walker), the hunger meters gating passive HP regen, the battle pack refill, the grow chamber and incubator, recipe research being one at a time, Kagura rapport paying out in rations, and the Normal/Superior/Ultimate ranks being gated on the Cleanse Walker's calculations stat. Machine captions render Koo as "Coup" and "Ku", Kagura as "Kagra" and "Kaggler", Malefact as "malifact", and onigiri as "oniri" — every proper noun here was normalised against a written source before it shipped.
  • Eurogamer — All Beast of Reincarnation Crop Seedling locationsThird-party guide by Lottie Lynn, published 2026-08-04 and reopened via Eurogamer’s Beast of Reincarnation hub on 2026-08-22. Cited as evidence that a seedling-location guide now exists, not as a corroborated checklist for this site to republish.
  • Fextralife wiki — Recipes, ingredients and Kagura researchCompetitor claim, read 2026-08-05. Evidence that Fextralife publishes 25 dishes with their ingredients, flavour text, named effects and cook-book locations, plus 14 ingredients and 11 growing guides. Its effects are named and never numbered — "Increases HP and Attack", no figures anywhere — so it establishes which stats a dish touches and nothing about how much. Two transcription tells: its table spells the dish "Gilled Veg" where its own icon file is named Grilled-veg, and it calls the Ancient Civilization Zone vendor a "Wandering Merchant" where its own Purity weapon page calls the vendor at that spot an Ancient Golem merchant. Five of its cells read "Section is a WIP".
