Beast of Reincarnation Rangifer: Parry, Hit the Legs, Interrupt the Heal
The first Nushi, filmed independently by two creators who describe the same loop. It flees rather than dies the first time, it heals unless you interrupt, and the two people who filmed it disagree about whether it has a second phase.
The internal achievement id for this fight is ACH_NUSHI_SHIKA, which names deer — 鹿 (shika). Placed by the sync script with no judgement involved: this id's unlock percentage is currently unique across both Steam endpoints. Rangifer is the reindeer genus.

Where the evidence stands
The best-evidenced fight on this site. Two creators filmed it independently on the same day and describe the same loop without having seen each other’s video, which is the strongest form of corroboration anything here gets. The name is the one thing that is not settled: it reaches us from two typed video titles and two competitor wikis, and is never pronounced correctly in any recording we hold — AncientDagree’s own commentary calls it "the Ringer".
Unlock the campfire above the arena first
Shark R does not walk straight in. The campfire above the arena is marked on the map, and unlocking it is what makes the special attack available going into the fight. It is also the last place to upgrade before committing to anything.
- Unlock the campfire above the arena before you engage.Y162tj75b50 00:00–00:30
The opener is an ambush, not a charge
Wait for the boss to come to you. When a symbol appears over its head, jump-attack. Shark R reads that opener as taking roughly 10% of its health — one player’s read of a bar on screen rather than a measurement, and the only damage figure anywhere in our boss coverage.
- Wait, then jump-attack on the symbol. Roughly 10% of its health, per one creator’s read.Y162tj75b50 00:30–01:00
The loop: parry, then punish the legs
This is the part two independent recordings agree on, which makes it the sturdiest thing on the page. Parrying is not only defence — it denies the damage and charges Koo, so the player who parries more also has more to spend.
- After a parry it commits to one to three head attacks. Ride them out, then hit it.Y162tj75b50 01:30
- Attack the legs. They take heavy damage and are the easiest part to reach.Y162tj75b50 01:30
- The other reliable window is immediately after a perfect dodge of the stomp.Xn_fm18VsFI 00:00
- When it lowers its head to throw rocks, the projectiles can be dodged or deflected.Xn_fm18VsFI 00:00–00:30
- After a series of parries it puts its head down. That is not an opening — reposition or spend Koo’s abilities.Xn_fm18VsFI 00:30
- Dodge the red attacks. Do not block them.Xn_fm18VsFI 00:00
It heals, and the heal has to be interrupted
The one mechanic that turns a slow fight into an unwinnable one. AncientDagree interrupts a heal on camera and interrupts a second one later in the same fight, both with their own chapter markers. Single source — nobody else we hold has filmed it — but filmed rather than inferred.
- Interrupt the heal. It does it more than once.Xn_fm18VsFI 05:00
It runs away the first time you beat it
Shark R states that the boss flees when first defeated and has to be fought again later. One source, and nothing we hold contradicts it. If the fight ends without a kill, that is the fight working rather than a bug — and the clear order confirms a second Rangifer encounter later in the run.
- First encounter ends in a flight, not a kill.Y162tj75b50 00:00
Does it have a second phase? The two people who filmed it disagree
AncientDagree says it flatly — "phase one down, on to phase two" — and adds that the parry window is tighter and the attacks faster from there. Shark R, fighting the same boss, says it "looks like" a second phase but that he is not sure. Neither shows a transition anyone can point at, so both readings are published and no phase count is. The practical part holds either way: the timing does tighten later in the fight, so a parry that suddenly stops landing is the fight changing rather than your input failing. A note for anyone checking the source rather than taking our word for it — AncientDagree’s automatic captions render that line as "the prayer window seems a little tighter". The word is parry; quoted raw, the caption describes a mechanic this game does not have.
- Flat claim of a second phase, with a tighter parry window.Xn_fm18VsFI 02:30
- Same boss, same week: it only "looks like" a second phase.Y162tj75b50 02:00
Rangifer — questions players actually ask
Sources for this page
- AncientDagree Gaming — How to Beat The Rangifer (Hard Mode) — Hands-on, uploaded 2026-08-04 — the first dedicated single-boss commentary we hold. Establishes a heal-interrupt mechanic and, at 02:30, a flat claim that the fight has a second phase with a tighter parry window. The name Rangifer comes from the creator-typed title, not from audio; the captions render "parry window" as "prayer window", so quote the audio only through the corrected reading.
- Shark R — How to Beat Rangifer (Step-by-Step Boss Guide) — Hands-on, uploaded 2026-08-04 — an independent second read on the same first boss, which is what raises the written spelling Rangifer above single-source. Establishes the campfire above the arena and an ambush opener worth roughly 10% of the boss health when a symbol appears over its head, at 00:30. At 02:00 the creator says the fight only "looks like" it has a second phase and he is not sure, which contradicts AncientDagree.
Video ids and timestamps are printed beside each claim above rather than collected here, so any single line can be checked without reading the page twice.
