What the publisher has actually committed to, and when it changed
For twelve days the only statement was a forum reply: Sam, posting as a developer in the bug megathread on 3 August at 7:04pm, named ultrawide support and frame generation as targeted for fixes — no date, no scope, and, importantly, no repeat in the v1.0.7 patch notes six days later. That changed on 15 August. The v1.0.8 notes carry ultrawide monitor support as a named item for a subsequent patch, describe it as “currently in the final stages of testing”, say it will be “released soon”, and apologise for the wait. That is a commitment in a changelog rather than a reply in a thread, and it is the difference this page existed to track.
What “final stages of testing” does not tell you
Not a date, not a version number, and not what the implementation covers. Nothing published says whether it means true 21:9 and 32:9 rendering, a wider FOV, or letterboxed scaling — and nothing says whether the UI and the invisible health bars at ultrawide come with it. The same notes also promise frame generation with no timing at all, so the two items a developer named together on 3 August are now on different footings.
And what players said back, in the same thread
The 4K half of that post is disputed on the page it was posted on. Players in the same thread report the resolution selector capping at 1080p on higher-resolution displays, and report subtitle and other settings not behaving as described. We are not adjudicating this — the point of the page is that the developer statement and the player reports are both on the record, in the same place, and a reader who only sees one of them has been misled.
The only workaround is a community mod, and there are now four of them
This section said "the single workaround posted anywhere" on 5 August and that stopped being true within two days. Four separate mods now remove the pillarboxing, and they are not interchangeable — three mutually exclusive install routes, one that also fixes the upscaler reverting to FSR 1, and exactly one that repairs enemy and boss health bars rendering invisible at ultrawide. All of them are unofficial third-party mods: not published, endorsed or supported by the developer or the publisher, untested by us, and with nothing guaranteeing any of them survives the next patch — v1.0.8 has already shipped camera changes twice over, which is what every one of these hooks, and official ultrawide support is the thing most likely to break or retire them. They are listed on this site because they exist and players are using them, not as a recommendation, and the per-mod comparison is on the mods page rather than here.
What has not been established
The date, and what the fix actually renders. The publisher’s Steam news hub now carries two sets of patch notes where in early August it carried none, so the channel is no longer the problem — the specificity is. Neither note says what ultrawide support will do, and the pinned developer Q&A thread that promised to fill that gap over the first day is still sitting at zero replies.
