§01

What the game is

Beast of Reincarnation is a single-player action RPG from GAME FREAK inc., published by Fictions. The store page describes a fusion of real-time and turn-based combat and frames the whole thing as a "one-person, one-dog action RPG": you play Emma, travelling with Koo, a white wolf-dog carrying a mane of living flowers.

  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S. $59.99 on Steam at release.
  • Single-player. Koo is an AI companion, not a second player.
  • Around 30–40 hours for the story; 50–60 if you clear everything.
§02

Read the bottom bar, not the top one

Every enemy carries two bars. The top one is health. The bottom one is the Down Gauge, and it is the one that decides how long a fight takes. Landing hits fills it; parrying fills it faster. Fill it completely and the enemy is opened up for a takedown — a finisher that does far more damage than grinding health down ever will.

  • Health is the slow route. The Down Gauge is the fast one.
  • This is the single biggest mental shift coming from other action games.
§03

Parrying is how you pay for everything

A correctly timed guard takes zero damage, which is standard for the genre. What is not standard is that every successful parry fills the FP gauge in the bottom right — and the game itself describes FP as the source of Koo’s power. Roll away from everything and Koo does nothing at all. The aggressive option is the one that feeds you, which is an unusually good piece of design: it pushes a nervous player toward the mechanic they most need to learn.

§04

Dying costs almost nothing

There is no meaningful death penalty. That is worth knowing on hour one, because it changes how much you should be willing to experiment — this is not a game where a failed boss attempt costs you a currency run. Try the parry timing you are unsure about.

§05

Manual save whenever you spend points

Two written launch guides agree on the save locations: make a manual save from the Save Game option at Camps, and use the Cleanse Walker once that base is available. Autosaves exist, but Rock Paper Shotgun explicitly warns not to rely on them for planned progress, and IGN frames manual saving as the thing to do when you want a real save file. Treat every campfire as a checkpoint after spending Attribute points, buying skills or preparing for a boss.

§06

The first hour, in order

Nothing here needs a wiki tab open. It is the order that stops a new player from stalling.

  • Pick a difficulty and stop thinking about it — you can change it later at no cost to rewards.
  • Practise parries on trash mobs until the timing is muscle memory. Everything downstream is funded by it.
  • Spend your first points on Koo rather than Emma. His survivability skills make the early game cheaper.
  • Read the icon beside an enemy’s health bar. It names the damage type they are weak to.
§07

What this page will not tell you

How many endings there are, and what branches them. Nobody official has said, and several wikis publish a number anyway. When there is a source, it will be here with a date on it.

Beast of Reincarnation Beginner Guide FAQ

It borrows the parry and the boss structure, but the resource loop is its own: your defence charges your companion, and there is no meaningful death penalty. Treating it as a Souls-like will make you play too cautiously to generate FP.
