Four elements build a status; two more states make them worse
Emma and Koo’s attribute screen lists four elements under elemental afflict: poison, acid, flame and lightning. Those are the four that accumulate — a circle fills beside the enemy’s life bar, and when it crosses the threshold the status lands and starts ticking damage. The other four damage types in the game do not build anything; they hit weaknesses and, in Destructive’s case, break shields. Sitting on top of that are two states that are not damage at all. Drenched and Oily do nothing by themselves and exist to turn a damage type into a worse version of itself: electric on a drenched enemy becomes Jolt, and sustained flame on an oiled one becomes Scorch. Ordering matters, which is why they are written as a recipe below rather than a list.
Four damage types build toward a status; four do not. Two more states do no damage at all and exist only to make a damage type escalate into something worse. Which weapons carry which type is on /elements/.
From Poison damage, accumulated past the threshold
Damage over time.
From Acid damage, accumulated past the threshold
Damage over time.
From Flame damage, accumulated past the threshold
Damage over time, like the other three. IGN names flame as one of the four afflicting elements and describes what build-up does in general, but never says what the resulting status is called — so this record does not either.
From Electric damage, accumulated past the threshold
Stuns the enemy temporarily, opening a window to attack. The only one of the four whose secondary effect is described as something other than damage over time.
Drenched + Electric → Jolt
From Electric damage on an enemy that is already Drenched
Described by IGN only as "a better version of the shocked ailment". No figure has been published for how much better.
Oily + Flame → Scorch
From Sustained flame damage on an enemy that is already Oily
Triggered by continuing to attack an oiled enemy with fire damage. The word the source uses is "continuously" — one flame hit is described as not being enough.
From Not established — IGN names the state without saying what applies it
Sets up Jolt. Electric damage on a drenched enemy escalates instead of simply shocking.
From Not established — IGN names the state without saying what applies it
Sets up Scorch. Sustained flame damage on an oiled enemy escalates instead of simply burning.
How build-up behaves
Build-up is shown as a circle that fills beside the enemy health bar. The status lands when it crosses the threshold.
A landed status can be stacked further — a level two and a level three are described. Whether a level four exists is unknown.Source hedged this
The creator says "I believe" and "I don’t recall if there’s a level four", and asks viewers to correct him. Published at his confidence, not above it.
Koo’s Status Effect Amp mod doubles the speed at which you inflict statuses.
Rupture, Destructive, Impact and Explosive do not build toward any status. They still hit weaknesses, and Destructive breaks shields.
The half nobody else publishes: getting one off Emma
Every guide in this game’s coverage explains how to inflict a status. Almost none explains what to do when Emma is carrying one, and the answer turns out to be four separate systems that no single source describes together. Armour is the resist layer — the elemental resist line on her attribute screen reads entirely off what she is wearing. Koo is the cure layer twice over: Recovery skills heal HP and Support skills clear statuses, and once equipped he uses them himself, so the decision is made in the loadout screen rather than mid-fight. The Healing Energy mod does something stronger than either, clearing both the status and the build-up already accumulated toward the next one. And weapon enhancement tiers are described as sometimes curing statuses outright, though nobody has published which tier on which weapon.
- Three of the four are chosen before the fight starts. If you are already inflicted and did not equip anything, the honest answer is that you ride it out.
- No source we hold publishes a duration or a damage figure for any status in this game, on either side of the fight. Anyone printing one has not said where it came from.
What the stacking claim is actually worth
A landed status can be pushed further — a level two and a level three are described, with the circle continuing to fill under the enemy’s health bar. That comes from one creator, and it is worth reading how he says it: "a max of, I believe, three times", followed by "I don’t recall if there’s a level four" and an invitation for viewers to correct him. That is a person telling you his own confidence, and it is published here at that confidence rather than rounded up into a rule. If you find yourself reading "statuses stack three times" as a flat fact on another site, this is the sentence it came from.
