There is no best armor, and none of the three numbers is a progression
Fourteen armors, three published numbers each: Defense, Spirit Stone slots and an Enemy Awareness grade. It is tempting to assume the newest piece is the best one, and this site said something close to that until the rows were checked against each other — but defense does not even climb steadily. It reverses three times in acquisition order: the fourth armor has less defense than the third, the sixth less than the fifth, and the tenth less than the ninth. Slots reverse repeatedly too, and the quietest armor in the game is the fourth thing you pick up. Choose an axis below and the winner moves, which is the actual answer to "what should I wear".
What are you optimising for?
The only axis where the last armor you find is also the winner. If this is all you care about, the game hands you the answer in order and there is nothing to decide.

The five Charm lines are not the same size
Charms go on Koo, and each line runs I to III. The percentages are published and they are not comparable across lines — HP and Defense more than triple between I and III while Attack and Critical stay in single digits the whole way. That is a statement about how the stats scale internally, not about which charm is better.
- HP CharmI+20%II+40%III+70%
- DEF CharmI+20%II+40%III+70%
- Skill CharmI+10%II+15%III+20%
- Critical CharmI+3%II+5%III+8%
- ATK CharmI+3%II+5%III+7%
One more thing no wiki’s charm list can express: each charm also rolls one mod, named and levelled, so two charms of the same tier are not the same item. The single charm panel anyone has photographed shows Skill Charm III at the published +20% with a rolled “Crit Boost 3” beside it. No source publishes where any of the fifteen drops.
Two claims this site had wrong until 2026-08-09
Recorded rather than quietly fixed, because both were ours and both were checkable the whole time. The first: our source note for the armor table said "defense rises monotonically through the set". It does not — the set contains three reversals, listed above, and the chart on /gear/ has been drawing them since the day it shipped. The second: the God Tree Guard record said three of the four six-slot armors are the last three you find. They are the sixth, tenth, eleventh and fourteenth, so only one of them is in the last three, and the slot ceiling is reachable much earlier than that claim implied. Neither error came from a source; both came from describing a table without re-reading it. The underlying finding survives and is stronger than the version that was wrong: not one of the three axes is a progression.
Awareness is a real cost, and it is buried in a description field
Worth flagging because the wikis’ three-column tables hide it. Awareness is not a stat beside Defense — it is a line inside the armor’s own description text, which is why a table that lists Defense and slots side by side can make a piece look like a straight upgrade when it is not. LaserBolt’s capture at 09:50 shows the Amber Breastplate card reading "Defense 48, Spirit Stone Slots 6" with "Enemy awareness: Extreme" sitting in the prose underneath. That frame also disagrees with Fextralife by one point — the wiki publishes 49 — and the disagreement is published here rather than resolved, because one photograph of one card is not a correction of a whole table.

Charms: the five lines are not the same size, and each one rolls a mod
Charms go on Koo and come as a five-by-three grid — HP, ATK, DEF, Skill and Critical, each at I, II and III. The published percentages say something about the game’s internal scaling before they say anything about which charm to use: HP and Defense both run +20/+40/+70% while Attack runs +3/+5/+7% and Critical +3/+5/+8%. A 70% and a 7% are not two points on one ladder. Then there is the part no charm list can express — every charm also carries one rolled mod, named and levelled, so two charms of the same tier are not the same item. Fextralife’s Charm Effects column lists six effects on a single row, which the client capture shows is a pool the roll draws from rather than that charm’s contents.
What nobody has published about any of it
No source gives a drop location for a single one of the fifteen charms. No source establishes what the mod pool contains or how a roll is weighted. The Spirit Stone table publishes thirty-three named stones with a maximum stat boost each, and the one capture of the stone menu shows the stat scaling by rank with an Effect Details panel marking the equipped level — so a wiki’s single figure is a ceiling rather than what you are wearing. And every armor number here is one wiki’s transcription: the acquisition order is corroborated by a second creator’s chapter titles, but not one Defense value has been independently checked.
