Beast of Reincarnation Controller Not Working: 5 Faults

Five separate controller problems are being reported and only one has a developer acknowledgement. Wrong button glyphs, swapped Switch Pro face buttons, DualShock 4 rumble, a config that resets to Type B, and inputs that never register — with what is known about each.

Short answer

There is no single controller fault — five distinct ones are being reported, and mixing them up is why the fixes people pass around do not work. Only one has been acknowledged by the developer, and not one of the five has a published fix.

Where this is being asked · Steam’s launch bug megathread, where the controller reports sit in one corner and read as a single problem until they are separated.

Answered? Next · Known issues tracker — every reported bug with its status and date · PC fix finder — the symptoms that do have working fixes · Why healing sometimes does not respond · Perfect blocks give no visual confirmation

Evidence

The answer, broken into claims

A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.

  • UnverifiedFive distinct controller problems are being reported.

Steam bug megathread, read 2026-08-05. Player reports; none has been reproduced by this site.

  • UnverifiedThe developer has acknowledged the button-glyph mismatch.

Sam [developer] in the bug thread, 3 August 7:04pm, naming controller glyphs among the things being looked at. No fix, build number or date accompanied it.

  • InferredNo workaround exists for any of the five.

Our reading of the tracker records: every one of the five carries "none posted" against its workaround field, and no second player has confirmed a fix in the thread.

  • InferredSome of the dropped-input reports may be animation lock rather than a controller fault.

Our reading of the reports, which tie the symptom to aiming, skills, Blade Arts and assassinations. One player states heals will not start while downed, staggered, attacking or being hit. Nobody has tested the two apart.

§01

The five, separated

Grouped because the reports are, not because a shared cause has been established — nobody has shown that any two of these are the same bug. Work out which one you have before trying anything, because none of the advice circulating for one of them addresses the others.

  • Wrong button glyphs. Prompts show a different controller’s buttons from the one connected. This is the only one of the five a developer has named as being looked at, and no fix, build number or date has been published.
  • Switch Pro Controller face buttons swapped on Layout C. One reporter, no replies, no developer response, and nobody has said whether another layout avoids it.
  • DualShock 4 rumble does nothing. One report, no reply, not reproduced by a second player in the thread.
  • Button configuration resets to Type B. A saved layout reverting on its own. Same corner of the thread as the DualShock 4 report, and recorded beside it because the reports are adjacent rather than because they share a cause.
  • Inputs registering late or not at all. Parries, dodges and heals dropped or delayed — the largest cluster of the five, corroborated by several players, and the only one the developer has demonstrably read: Sam [developer] reposted one report into the pinned megathread.
§02

The last one may not be a controller fault at all

Worth separating from the other four, because it is the one most likely to be misdiagnosed. The dropped-input reports tie the symptom to animation lock — after aiming, skills, Blade Arts and assassinations — and one player’s reading is that healing simply will not start while you are downed, staggered, attacking or being hit. If that is right, some of what is being reported as a controller problem is the combat system refusing input by design, and no amount of rebinding or replugging will change it. Nothing published settles which it is, and the two would need separating before either could be fixed. It is filed under controllers here because that is what people call it when they search.

§03

What actually works right now

Nothing, and that is the honest state rather than a gap in this page. No workaround has been posted for any of the five. Nobody has reported a settings change, a frame-rate cap, a launch option or a driver version that affects any of them. The developer has acknowledged one — the glyphs — and published nothing a player can do in the meantime. If you find something that works, the tracker page has a report form and this page will carry it.

Expiry condition

What would have to change for this answer to be wrong

An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.

A patch names any of the five, or a player reproduces a fix a second player confirms. The glyph mismatch is the likeliest to move first, because it is the one the developer has said is being looked at.

Citations

Every source, with its date

A complaint posted before 30 July 2026 describes the playtest, not the game you bought, and a source whose publication date nobody captured cannot show that it postdates launch either. Both are flagged rather than quietly mixed in.

  • The launch bug megathread, and the source for four of the five reports here: the glyph mismatch, the Switch Pro layout C swap, the DualShock 4 rumble report and the button configuration reset. Evidence that players reported these, not that any has been reproduced. Read 2026-08-05.

  • Sam [developer] posting on 3 August at 7:04pm, naming controller glyphs among the things being looked at. This is the only developer acknowledgement of any of the five, and it carries no fix, build number or date.
