Sunrise burn — BltzZ’s flame build
A sword whose flame is a projectile rather than a swing, a Koo mod that refunds FP for every hit on a burning enemy, and a two-art loop that keeps paying for itself as long as the target stays alight.
Whose build this is

What it does
The premise
Every other build on this site spends a resource to deal damage. This one spends a resource to set something on fire and then gets the resource back from the fire. The join is a single mod — Rapid Cooling on Higanbana Seeds — which refunds Koo one FP for each hit landed on a burning enemy, and Seeds hits five times when maxed. So the loop is not "burn for damage", it is "burn to afford the next art", and the creator demonstrates fights he finishes without striking with Emma at all. The one observation here that nobody else has published is about the weapon: the Sunrise Sword’s flame is a projectile, so it passes through the enemy it hits and lands on everything behind them, and it fires once per slash rather than once per combo.
The loop
- Open with Higanbana Roots. It costs three FP, it groups and roots the enemies, and its Effect Amplifier mod makes every status build up twice as fast on them (04:00).
- Set them alight — the Sunrise Sword’s flame passes through the first target into everything behind it, once per slash (00:30–01:00).
- Higanbana Seeds into the burning group. Rapid Cooling refunds one FP per hit and it hits five times at max, which pays for the next art (03:00–03:30).
- Loop Roots into Seeds into Roots for as long as the target stays burning — his words are “roots, seeds, roots, seeds as many times as you need until the enemy dies” (04:30–05:30).
- On a boss, lead with Sakura Javelin instead: the Battleborn mod fires Emma’s blade effect without needing a parry, so the burn starts on your terms (05:00–05:30).
Skills
Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out
Each swing leaves flames, and the creator’s finding is that the flame is a projectile — it travels through the enemy it hits and lands on everyone behind them, and it fires once per slash, so an R1-R1 into square-square combo throws as many projectiles as it has swings. He states about five seconds of duration, extended by a skill node, and flame build-up at six. He is holding it at Light of Dawn +3, which the catalogue records as its upgrade line.
Chosen for six Spirit Stone slots rather than for its own defence, which is the same reason the lightning build swaps armour. Six is the number the whole stone set below depends on.
- Entangled Conquest02:00
He is running it at rank 3, made by combining two lower ones. Caption spelling was “entanglement conquest”; the catalogue records it as Entangled Conquest and that is the spelling used here.
- Entangled Combo02:30
At a fifteen-hit combo it raises both the entanglement gauge and Koo’s FP by one. He calls it worth carrying specifically because this build fires a lot of arrows, which is what reaches fifteen hits. Caption spelling was “entanglement combo”; corrected against the catalogue.
- Final Infusion02:30
One entanglement gauge and one FP on every execution, and he is running it maxed. The third of three stones in this set whose output is resource rather than damage.
- Infernal End?02:00
A rank 3 and a rank 2 together, widening the burn radius so that burning enemies explode on death and set fire to whatever is next to them. The name is unsettled and the disagreement is ours, not his: this repo has transcribed the same syllables from the same video twice and got “Infernal End” once and “Inferno End” once. The catalogue holds no record under either, so it is listed as his claim rather than as a stone you can go and look up.
The join the whole build is built on. With Rapid Cooling equipped, every hit on a burning enemy returns one FP to Koo, and Seeds hits five times at maximum — so a single cast on a burning group refunds most of what the next one costs. He calls the mod one of the best combinations from early game to late.
Three FP. It groups and roots enemies, and the mod doubles the rate every status effect builds on them — which is what takes a target from burn to Scorch quickly enough for the loop to hold. The art is catalogued; the mod name is a caption spelling with no record behind it and is marked accordingly.
- Sakura Javelin, with Battleborn05:00
The same mod the lightning build uses for the same purpose: it fires Emma’s blade effect without requiring a parry. Here that means the burn can open a boss fight rather than waiting for one, which is the difference between this loop working from the first input and working from the first successful parry.
He still runs it, and calls it Emma’s single best melee move — defensive because the jump avoids attacks, offensive because the slam hits everything in front and interrupts most non-boss attack animations. This is the third build on this site to arrive at Helm Splitter independently.
Execution
The parts that are technique, not gear
Copying the skill order gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.
The flame is a projectile, and that is the whole weapon 01:00
Every article about the Sunrise Sword describes it as a fire weapon and stops there. What he shows is that the flame it leaves travels: it goes through the enemy in front of you and hits the ones behind, and it is emitted per slash rather than per combo, so a four-hit string throws four of them. That turns a single-target weapon into the build’s crowd tool and it is why the burn lands on the whole group fast enough for the Seeds refund to be worth casting. Nobody on this site has verified it — it is one creator, on camera, once.
Oil first, if Koo can carry it 06:30
He puts a Bottle of Oil on Koo specifically so burn applies faster, and notes that oil on an enemy makes flame and burn land much more easily. That is an independent, first-hand corroboration of the Oily → Flame → Scorch escalation our elements page documents from the client, arrived at from the other direction: he is not describing a mechanic he read about, he is carrying an item because it works.
The optional Koo slots, and which one he actually defends 06:00
Torch is the one he argues for — it builds flame, and Koo will use it twice in a battle under a flame equip. The landmine’s flame variant he explicitly downgrades: it does not explode, it leaves fire, and the enemy has to walk onto it, which he says stops being reliable in the later game. Taunt is there for being swarmed. Two recovery tonics fill the last slots and he says outright they are optional.
Honest limits
What this build is bad at
A build page without this section is an advertisement.
- The stone set is a late-game one by his own account. Entangled Conquest at rank 3 is two stones combined, Entangled Combo arrives “a little bit later in the game”, and Dance Attire is a six-slot armour — none of that is reachable in the opening hours, so this is not a starter build however broken the title calls it.
- Two of its parts cannot be looked up. Infernal End and the Effect Amplifier mod are caption spellings with no catalogue record behind them, and the build’s two best-sounding effects — burning enemies exploding, statuses building at double rate — are exactly those two. Three of its stones are real records the catalogue holds but the validator cannot link, because Spirit Stones live outside the four catalogues a build entry can point at.
- It is measured against ordinary enemies. The footage he narrates is trash clearing and the loop depends on grouping and rooting a crowd; bosses cannot be rooted the same way, and his own boss advice is a different, shorter sequence.
- He never states a damage figure. The claim is that fights end fast, shown rather than counted, and there is no comparison against another build on the same target.
