Beast of Reincarnation: How to Change the Voice Language to English

Yes — the game is fully voiced in English and Japanese, and it defaults to Japanese. The option is missing mid-run because it only exists on the title screen: Settings › Languages › Voice-Over Language.

Short answer

Yes, and the reason you cannot find it is not that it is missing. Beast of Reincarnation is fully voiced in both English and Japanese, it defaults to Japanese, and the switch lives at Settings › Languages › Voice-Over Language — but only on the title screen. Open Settings mid-run and there is no Voice-Over row to find, which is why players conclude the game is Japanese-only.

Where this is being asked · By English-speaking players who launched the game, heard Japanese, and went looking in the pause menu. Seven outlets have published a dedicated how-to for this one setting, which is a fair measure of how often the option is looked for in the wrong place.

Evidence

The answer, broken into claims

A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.

  • OfficialThe game is fully voiced in both English and Japanese, and the setting is Settings › Languages › Voice-Over Language.

The publisher’s own support article, read 2026-08-10.

  • OfficialThe voice-over language can only be changed from the main menu, not during a run.

The publisher states the constraint in the same article, in those terms.

  • CorroboratedThe default is Japanese, so English speakers have to change it manually.

Game Rant and Shacknews independently, 2026-08. The publisher’s article does not state a default.

  • CorroboratedThe route back to the title screen is Settings › Other › Return to Title, and you should save first.

Game Rant, corroborated by Shacknews on the constraint. The publisher’s article omits this step entirely.

  • CorroboratedVoice-over language and text/subtitle language are separate settings, so Japanese audio with English text is possible.

Game Rant and Shacknews independently. Not mentioned in the publisher’s article.

§01

The setting, in the publisher’s own words

These are the steps from the publisher’s support centre rather than a transcription of somebody’s playthrough. The wording of the menu rows is theirs:

  • From the starting screen, open “Settings”.
  • Navigate to “Languages”.
  • Navigate to “Voice-Over Language”.
  • Select between “English” and “Japanese”.
§02

Why the option is not there when you look for it

Because it is not in the in-game settings menu at all. The publisher puts it plainly — the voice-over language “can be changed any time, but only from the main menu” — and then stops, without saying how you get to the main menu from inside a run. That omission is the whole problem this page exists for. The route, which two outlets give and the publisher does not, is Settings › Other › Return to Title. Save first: returning to the title screen discards unsaved progress, and nothing in the official article warns you about that either.

§03

It defaults to Japanese, which is why this is an English-speaker’s question

Game Rant and Shacknews both state the game ships with Japanese voice-over selected. The publisher’s article names both languages and does not say which is default, so this is corroborated rather than official — but it explains the shape of the demand. Every competitor headline on this setting is about switching *to* English. A Japanese-speaking player never has to find this menu, which is also why this page has no Japanese translation: the friction it removes does not exist in that locale.

§04

Voice and text are two settings, not one

Both outlets also report that the text and subtitle language is a separate option in the same menu, which means Japanese voice-over with English subtitles is a supported combination rather than a compromise. The publisher’s article does not mention this at all — it covers voice-over only. If you came here to keep the Japanese performances and read along in English, that is the setting to change, and it is not the one this page is otherwise about.

§05

What the official article does and does not settle

Worth separating, because three of the five useful facts here are not first-party:

  • It settles: that both languages are fully voiced, the exact menu path, and that the change is main-menu only.
  • It does not say: which language is the default.
  • It does not say: how to reach the main menu from inside a run, which is the step players are actually stuck on.
  • It does not say: that text and subtitle language are separate from voice-over.
  • It does not say: whether the setting behaves the same on PS5 and Xbox Series. Nothing published addresses console, and this page does not assume parity.

Expiry condition

What would have to change for this answer to be wrong

An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.

A patch moves the setting into the in-game menu, which is the obvious fix and would retire most of this page. It would also change if the publisher revised its article to include the return-to-title step or name the default language, at which point three of the claims above move from corroborated to official.

Every source, with its date

A complaint posted before 30 July 2026 describes the playtest, not the game you bought, and a source whose publication date nobody captured cannot show that it postdates launch either. Both are flagged rather than quietly mixed in.

  • That the game is fully voiced in English and Japanese; that the setting is Settings › Languages › Voice-Over Language; and that it can be changed at any time but only from the main menu. Read 2026-08-10 — the host is Cloudflare-walled to automated fetching, so this was read in a browser. It states no default language and gives no route back to the title screen.

  • That the default voice-over is Japanese; that the route back to the title screen is Settings › Other › Return to Title and that you should save first; and that text language, subtitle settings and speaker-name settings sit in the same menu as separate options.

  • Independently, that the game is voiced entirely in Japanese by default, that the voice-over language cannot be changed from the pause menu during gameplay, and that subtitle language is a separate setting that can also be turned off.

Yes. The publisher states the game is fully voiced in both English and Japanese. It just is not the default — you select it at Settings › Languages › Voice-Over Language on the title screen.
