Sprout into Helm Splitter — RPG Division’s hard-mode starter build

One creator’s complete early loadout for hard difficulty, transcribed from his own video with the timestamp on every pick: the hair branch, Sprout Shakuyaku into Helm Splitter, Vitality, the Onslaught spirit stone and a burn mod on Koo.

§01

What it does

The premise

The build exists to solve one problem the creator states at 00:00: on hard, enemies kill you fast, so damage has to be delivered from somewhere they cannot answer. His answer is height. Emma launches off a bloom she grows herself and comes down with an area slam, which does the damage and removes her from the exchange in the same motion. He is explicit at 01:30 that the survivability is the point and the damage is the bonus, and equally explicit at 02:00 that none of the gear is hard to get — he calls it "the simplest stuff" and says the weapon does not matter.

The loop

  1. Open with Koo’s seed special attack to put burn on the target (03:30). Burn is what funds the rest.
  2. Hold the right trigger to extend Emma’s hair, latch onto the sprout, and take the height (04:00).
  3. Helm Splitter down onto the target from above (04:00).
  4. Follow the landing stagger with a normal attack, then the special attack on square or X (04:00–04:30).
  5. Expect retaliation on recovery — deflect or dodge, then repeat, re-opening with the seed attack whenever Koo has it back (04:30).
§02

Skills

Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out

  1. The hair branch — the middle tree01:00

He goes to the middle tree and says the hair upgrades themselves are "not that relevant"; the branch matters because of what sits on it. This is the second creator to place Helm Splitter on the hair branch rather than the red melee branch IGN describes, which is the disagreement recorded below.

  2. Sprout Shakuyaku01:00

Taken "as soon as possible", and taken for exactly one reason: it gives a platform to bounce off. The whole build is downstream of that platform existing.

  3. Helm Splitter01:30

The payload. Bounce off the sprout, then slam. He describes it as high damage that simultaneously moves Emma out of danger, and calls the pairing a win-win on higher difficulty.

  4. Vitality02:00

His attribute call, and it is conditional rather than universal: Vitality on hard, because surviving more hits matters more than anything else there. On normal or easy he says to balance attributes or spend them elsewhere, explicitly leaving it to the player.

  5. Mechblade (Light)02:00

What he happens to be holding, and he says so — "honestly doesn’t matter, use whatever you want, it’s not relevant to the build". Listed because the loadout is published as recorded, not because the weapon is a recommendation. The spelling matches a weapon Game8 lists with the ability Mech Slash: Light.

  6. Onslaught spirit stone02:30

Stacking matters: he states that equipping more than one stone of the same name boosts the effect. Onslaught grants Vigor, which raises attack on entering battle — which is the exact moment this build throws its biggest hit, so the stone and the loop are chosen for each other. BltzZ independently names both the stone and Vigor.

  7. End of the Line — mod on Koo’s seed special attack?02:30

Grants +3 Vigor while the enemy is burning, and the seed attack is what applies the burn, so the opener pays for its own buff. He notes at 03:00 that nature-type enemies burn far more readily than golems, which is where this stops working.

  8. Fluorescence for Koo, into the status build-up node03:00

His stated fix for the golem problem: push Koo’s Fluorescence and take the node that increases status build-up, so burn still lands on things that resist it.

§03

Execution

The parts that are technique, not gear

Copying the skill order gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.

The full elite and mini-boss combo 03:30

Seed special from Koo for burn, hair to the sprout, Helm Splitter from above, normal attack into the landing stagger, then the special attack. He describes the final special as doing significant stagger and health damage, and warns that the recovery on it is where enemies punish you.

Why height beats blocking here 05:00

The claim at 05:00 is not that the combo out-damages alternatives but that it removes Emma from the exchange: "enemies simply don’t have the solution for it" while she is airborne. Against regular enemies he says a shortened version is enough and the full chain is for elites and bosses.

§04

Honest limits

What this build is bad at

A build page without this section is an advertisement.

  • The creator’s own expiry condition, stated at 05:00: "maybe later on there are going to be other type enemies that will invalidate this combination altogether". He scopes the build to the start of the game and does not claim it scales.
  • The burn opener is weak exactly where it matters most. He says at 03:00 that golem-type enemies resist burn far better than nature-type ones, and the Fluorescence investment is a patch on that rather than a fix.
  • Vitality is a hard-mode call. He says so himself and hands the decision back to the player on lower difficulties, so copying the attribute spread without copying the difficulty is copying the wrong half.
  • Nothing here has a number. No damage figure, cost or cooldown is stated anywhere in the video, so none is published here.

Questions about this build

The creator says no. He is using Mechblade (Light) and states plainly that it is not relevant and that any weapon works — the build is the skill combination, not the gear.
