17 September 2026 update
Updated 2026-09-18

Helm Splitter

Held from a jump. Holding the attack button while airborne drops an area-of-effect slam that IGN describes as high damage with massive stagger, and as most of what Emma can do offensively to grounded enemies while she is in the air. Enhancing the skill widens its effective range and leaves its attack value unchanged. Shakuyaku is its prerequisite in the tree.

When to use it

Settled from the client: Helm Splitter is on the Hair branch. A frame from LaserBolt's tree video at 03:20 shows Emma's three branch roots labelled in the game's own UI — Tracking Shot, Hair and Entanglement Overdrive — with Sprout Shakuyaku at 12 points and Helm Splitter at 8 hanging beneath Hair, and Cloaking Grass below it on the same line. Iaido sits under Entanglement Overdrive instead, and Roll under Tracking Shot. That closes a question this record carried open for two days, and it closes it against our own original source: IGN describes Helm Splitter on the red melee branch and IGN is wrong about that. Two creators had already got there — RPG Division goes to "the one in the middle, the hair upgrades", BltzZ says "this hair tree, specifically the second ability" — and Fextralife's page, which states a Vitality requirement and a "Hair skill level 2" prerequisite, is corroborated on the branch half of its claim. The *attribute* half is not: no frame we hold shows Helm Splitter's own requirement panel, and the one branch requirement we have read off the client is Strength 9 on Entanglement Overdrive, which is not the branch this node is on. So: branch settled, attribute still open, and IGN's reading kept visible above rather than deleted.

Where it sits in the skill tree

  • It sits on Emma's side of the tree, alongside the six other Emma nodes catalogued here: Shakuyaku, Iaido, Roll, Tracking Shot, Hair and Entanglement Overdrive.
  • Its weapon requirement is recorded as "Melee; no weapon requirement published", which no other catalogued node carries.

Builds using this

  • Sprout into Helm SplitterRPG Division explains it at 01:30
The payload. Bounce off the sprout, then slam. He describes it as high damage that simultaneously moves Emma out of danger, and calls the pairing a win-win on higher difficulty.
  • Entanglement and homing shotsBltzZ explains it at 02:00
Called "probably the best move in the game" and recommended before the entanglement branch he admits he rushed. Interrupts most enemy attacks — not boss attacks, though he says it still dodges their grounded moves. The spelling here is the creator’s own, typed into his chapter marker, not a caption reading.
  • Thunderwave lightningBltzZ explains it at 06:30
Named again, and again without qualification — "going to help out in all of her weapon builds". Third independent creator on this site to say so, and the second BltzZ video to spell it.
  • Instant Entanglement resetsDopamine Hunter explains it at 06:00
The only thing he takes from the Hair branch, and he says so — "just get Helm Splitter for now, you don’t really need anything else in the mid game". Worth reading beside /disagreements/, where the two published skill routes conflict about exactly this branch.
  • Sunrise burn loopBltzZ explains it at 08:30
He still runs it, and calls it Emma’s single best melee move — defensive because the jump avoids attacks, offensive because the slam hits everything in front and interrupts most non-boss attack animations. This is the third build on this site to arrive at Helm Splitter independently.
