Iaido

Pause during a standard sword combo and Emma sheathes the katana with a brief flash; attack again during that flash and she performs a wide attack in front of her that can hit several enemies at once. Enhancing it adds hits rather than range. IGN notes the set-up time makes it far easier to land on enemies that have already been bound.

LaserBolt — Emma and Koo Skill Tree Guide

When to use it

IGN's case for it is structural: with the entanglement gauge and Koo's Bloom Arts taken away, Emma has little answer to a group with the sword alone, and Iaido and Helm Splitter are the two nodes that give her one. Where it sits is now settled and it is not where that framing implies. Emma's attribute panel states outright, in the game's own words, "Iaido can be acquired at Entanglement Overdrive Lv.2", and a tree frame puts it on the Entanglement Overdrive branch at a cost of 8. So Iaido and Helm Splitter are on *different* branches — Helm Splitter on Hair — and a player following IGN's advice to take both is opening two roots and paying two attribute thresholds, which IGN does not say. Entanglement Overdrive Lv. 2 requires Strength 9, so that is Iaido's real price of entry.

Where it sits in the skill tree

  • It sits on Emma's side of the tree, alongside the six other Emma nodes catalogued here: Helm Splitter, Shakuyaku, Roll, Tracking Shot, Hair and Entanglement Overdrive.
  • Its weapon requirement is recorded as "Katana — the node is defined by the draw from the sheath", which no other catalogued node carries.
