Instant Entanglement resets — Dopamine Hunter’s midgame build

The first midgame build here. A 35% chance to refill the entanglement gauge on every kill, a stone that opens the fight with gauge already banked, and a five-slot armour to carry the rest — with the constraint that decides the rhythm: the reset cannot fire while you still have gauge.

§01

What it does

The premise

Every other build on this site spends the entanglement gauge. This one is arranged around getting it back. Instant Entanglement gives a 35% chance to refill the gauge completely whenever Emma kills something, and the rest of the loadout exists to make kills happen while the gauge is empty — because the creator states a constraint nobody else here records: the reset cannot fire while any gauge remains. That single rule turns the build from a passive proc into a rhythm. Spend the bar down, finish something, and about a third of the time you get the whole bar back and start again.

The loop

  1. Open with the Entanglement Stone’s banked gauge rather than parrying for it — Overdrive is live from the first second (01:00).
  2. Spend that gauge on the strongest Blade Art you have. Which one is deliberately left to the reader; he says take whatever your bosses have given you (02:30).
  3. Finish a low-health enemy while the bar is empty. Ranged weapons are for exactly this — the reset only rolls on a kill (02:00).
  4. On a 35% roll the gauge refills completely and the loop restarts. When it does not, Expand Entanglement Gauge and the recovery skills rebuild it (00:30–02:00).
  5. Between resets, parry to fill Koo’s FP and spend his arts for sustain instead of items (06:30–07:00).
§02

Skills

Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out

  1. Instant Entanglement00:30

A 35% chance to completely refill the entanglement gauge whenever Emma defeats an enemy. He is explicit at 05:00 that it cannot fire while gauge remains — you have to be out of it — which is the rule the whole loop is built around. No catalogue record exists for this node yet, so it is named here without a link rather than pointed at something else.

  2. Maxed first, because he says it is what unlocks the rest of the branch. That matches what /entanglement/ reads off the client — it is a branch root rather than a single node — so the advice costs about a third of Emma’s tree and he does not say so.

  3. Expand Entanglement Gauge00:30

Maxed as early as possible: more segments mean longer Overdrive windows and more Blade Arts per spend. Named alongside Instant Entanglement as the two nodes to rush before anything else.

  4. The only thing he takes from the Hair branch, and he says so — "just get Helm Splitter for now, you don’t really need anything else in the mid game". Worth reading beside /disagreements/, where the two published skill routes conflict about exactly this branch.

  5. Insulating Mail03:45

Chosen for five Spirit Stone slots and the highest defence available midgame — he says if you cannot get this piece, get anything with five slots, because the slots are where the damage and utility come from. The catalogue record has it at Defense 32 with five slots and Extreme awareness; he does not mention the awareness cost.

  6. Hunter’s Sword03:30

Explicitly not a requirement. He states the weapon only has to carry an elemental affliction, because status effects raise the build’s damage and several of its skills scale off them. Recorded as his weapon rather than as the build’s weapon.

  7. Two segments of gauge at the start of every fight, which is what lets the loop open with Overdrive instead of building toward it. The third build on this site to name it.

  8. Florescent Recovery04:30

He reads it as a flat 6% critical rate plus HP returned each second while Bloom Arts are running, up to 2.5% of maximum. The catalogue record has its headline as Max Skill Power 9 from a different source; both are printed rather than reconciled, because neither has been read off the client.

  9. A flat 4% critical rate and 20% less damage taken, at the cost of reduced healing. The 20% is the middle tier of the three the catalogue record publishes, so this is a rank-two stone — see /spirit-stones/ for why a published figure is a ceiling rather than a value.

  10. Sharpshooter05:00

Exploiting a weakness with a ranged weapon has a chance to return one FP to Koo. It matters more here than in most builds because ranged finishing is how the reset gets rolled.

  11. Vigor at the start of a fight. The fourth build here to name it, which is what took the spelling out of caption territory.

  12. DEF Charm?07:00

He picks it for "such a high amount of critical rate increase" — which is not what a DEF Charm carries. A Defense Charm boosts Defense; the critical rate is a rolled mod sitting beside it. That is the pool-versus-contents distinction /charms/ documents, and this is a creator running into it without naming it.

§03

Execution

The parts that are technique, not gear

Copying the skill order gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.

The reset will not fire while you still have gauge 05:00

Stated at 05:00 and it is the whole rhythm. Holding a half-full bar for safety means the 35% roll never happens, so the build wants you to spend down to empty before looking for a kill. It is the opposite instinct to every resource-management habit the genre teaches.

Ranged weapons are a finishing tool, not a damage source 02:00–03:00

The bow and bolts exist to take low-health enemies off the board from safety, because the reset rolls on the kill rather than on the damage. He says to keep them upgraded through the playthrough for that reason alone.

Koo covers what one elemental weapon cannot 06:30–07:00

Because Emma’s weapon carries a single affliction, he loads Koo’s arts to cover the remaining elemental weaknesses, so there is always an advantage available. Parries fill Koo’s FP when the gauge is empty, which is also when Emma has least to do.

§04

Honest limits

What this build is bad at

A build page without this section is an advertisement.

  • The 35% is his figure and no second source states it. If it is wrong the loop still works, but it works less often than the video implies.
  • Insulating Mail has Extreme enemy awareness on the catalogue record and he does not mention it. Anyone playing the stealth openings is paying a cost he never prices.
  • Maxing Entanglement Overdrive first commits roughly a third of Emma’s tree, which /entanglement/ establishes from the client and this video does not say.
  • It is a midgame build by his own framing and he does not claim it scales — the Blade Arts it spends are whatever your bosses have dropped so far.

Questions about this build

This site does not rank builds. What it can say is that this is the only midgame build any named creator has published a complete loadout for: Instant Entanglement plus a maxed gauge, an Entanglement Stone to open with, and five Spirit Stone slots to carry the rest.
