Beast of Reincarnation Koo Skins and Cosmetics

Three cosmetics exist, all three are paid, and none of them appears until the Cleanse Walker is yours. Where the menu is, what each edition grants, and why the bonus you bought looks missing for the first few hours.

Nobody on this site has opened this menu. The mechanics here are two press guides that agree with each other, and the menu’s own label reaches us through a search summary of a page that blocks us — flagged inline where it matters.

Which copy did you buy?

Brown Shiba skinKoo

Emma’s bed on the Cleanse Walker. It arrives with the 30,000 Amber that comes in the same pre-order bonus.

Whatever the list says, none of it is reachable until you have driven Rangifer off midway through Chapter 1 and the Cleanse Walker is yours. Before that the bed does not exist, which is the single most common reason someone concludes their pre-order bonus never arrived. What each edition actually contains is the other half of that confusion.

The part that is still disputed

Does armour change how Emma looks? One reviewer says no, one guide says yesWhat each edition actually grants, and what it costsEvery armour record — the icons that definitely change
§01

There is nothing here to earn

Start with the part no guide leads with, because it decides whether the rest of the page is for you. Across every source we can read, not one cosmetic is obtainable by playing the game. No skin drops, none is bought from a merchant, none is behind an achievement. Three cosmetics exist — two Koo skins and one hat for Emma — and each is attached to a purchase: any pre-order grants the Brown Shiba, and the Digital Deluxe adds the Black Shiba and Oni’s Hat. If you bought a standard copy after launch, the customisation menu is empty and no amount of progress fills it.

  • Skins are cosmetic only. NerdsChalk is explicit that they "do not alter combat performance", and no source claims otherwise.
  • One source lists a Merchant’s Scarf and a Nomad headpiece as earnable. No other source mentions either, and it is a site that invents nouns for this game elsewhere — see the sources note. They are not published here.
  • Whether the Deluxe items ever become earnable is an open question that /editions/ already carries. Nothing has changed it.
§02

Why your pre-order bonus looks missing for the first few hours

This is the actual complaint behind most of the searching, and it has a mundane answer: the menu does not exist yet. Everything cosmetic is equipped at Emma’s bed aboard the Cleanse Walker, and the Cleanse Walker is not yours until you have driven Rangifer off midway through Chapter 1. Before that there is no bed, no menu and no sign anywhere that a bonus was ever applied. Nothing is wrong with your code. NerdsChalk puts the same gate slightly differently — the option appears "after the flashback sequence" — and the two descriptions are compatible; the flashback and the Rangifer fight sit within the same stretch of Chapter 1.

§03

And the one claim on this page we cannot stand behind fully

The menu’s own name. The option is reported as Special Content, on Emma’s bed, and that reaches us through a search-result summary of a Game8 page rather than off the page itself, because Game8 blocks automated fetching from this site — a limitation `docs/competitors.md` has recorded since the competitor watch started. So treat the label as a lead: go to the bed, and the option you want is the one that lists what your account owns. If you are standing in front of it and it says something else, that is a correction worth sending, and the contact route is on the site.

§04

Emma is the part where the sources fall out

Oni’s Hat aside, whether anything changes what Emma looks like is genuinely contested and this site has already published a position on it. Skill Up, reviewing after finishing the game, said the armour icon in your inventory changes and Emma does not — the same outfit start to end. NerdsChalk says the opposite in a different article, naming Light Gambeson, Chain Mail and Leather Garb as distinct visual outfits, without saying it checked. And a Steam feature request from a player asks for outfit variety on the grounds that "staring at the exact same character model for a 30 to 40-hour campaign gets stale", which is weak evidence in the way only a request can be: nobody asks for a thing they already have. Two of the three point the same way. The page that argues it out is linked below and it is the one to read before buying armour for the look.

Beast of Reincarnation Koo Skins and Cosmetics FAQ

At Emma’s bed aboard the Cleanse Walker, in the menu that lists what your account owns — reported as Special Content. It is unavailable until you have driven Rangifer off midway through Chapter 1, which is when the Cleanse Walker becomes yours.

Sources for this page

  • NerdsChalk — How to Unlock, Equip, and Change Koo SkinsPress guide, read 2026-08-11. The clearest source on the mechanics: the skin option lives behind the bed and becomes available after the flashback sequence, the Brown Shiba is a pre-order bonus bundled with 30,000 Amber, the Black Shiba comes with Deluxe, and "Koo skins are visual cosmetics and do not alter combat performance". It names no skin obtainable by playing, which is the finding this page is built on.
  • Game8 — How to Change Outfits (Skins), and the outfit and skin listCompetitor claim, 2026-08-11, and read through a search-result summary rather than off the page — Game8 blocks automated fetching from us, which docs/competitors.md already records. It is the only source naming the menu ("Emma's Bed aboard the Cleanse Walker", the Special Content option) and the story gate (driving back Rangifer midway through Chapter 1). Both are published here flagged as second-hand, because a menu label read off a summary of a page is one step further from the client than everything else on this site.
  • NerdsChalk — How to Change Emma’s OutfitPress guide, read 2026-08-11, and cited because it contradicts us. It states that "Changing Emma's armor can change more than her appearance" and names Light Gambeson, Chain Mail and Leather Garb as distinct visual outfits — the opposite of what Skill Up reported after a full playthrough and what /questions/does-armor-change-appearance/ publishes. It does not say it checked, and it gives no screenshot. Published here as the second position rather than resolved into the first.
  • Steam Community — “We need armor/outfit variety for Emma, not just Koo”Community claim, read 2026-08-11. A feature request, and therefore evidence about the shipped build by implication rather than by assertion: "Staring at the exact same character model for a 30 to 40-hour campaign gets stale", and "pushing cute companion skins while leaving the primary character you actually control with almost no clothing variety feels like a shortcut". One reply, no developer response. A player asking for outfit variety is weak evidence that outfit variety exists.
  • Steam appdetails API — App ID 2001760 (and DLC 4146810, 4146830)Official — read 2026-08-05. Carries the edition list and prices (package 722757 at $59.99, package 1615095 "Deluxe Edition" at $69.99), the minimum and recommended requirement tables, the eleven shipped languages, the age ratings, and no `drm_notice` field at all.
