Beast of Reincarnation Has No Character Creation — You Play Emma
There is no character creator. Emma is a fixed, named protagonist and Koo is a fixed dog. Three cosmetic items exist, all three are paid, and none of them changes who you play — here is the complete list of what can be altered.
No. There is no character creator, no appearance editor and no class choice. You play Emma, a named protagonist with her own story, accompanied by Koo, a named dog. The only things that can be altered are three cosmetic items — two skins for Koo and one hat for Emma — and every one of them is attached to a purchase rather than to anything you can do in the game.
Where this is being asked · Mostly before buying, and mostly in the future tense — “will have character creation” is the largest single phrasing in the cluster, which tells you these are people reading a store page rather than players stuck in a menu. It is the reasonable assumption to make about an action RPG, and this one does not work that way.
A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.
CorroboratedThere is no character creator and no appearance editor; you play Emma.
The publisher’s own framing plus every guide this site can read. No source describes a creation step, and none of them treats its absence as notable.
CorroboratedThree cosmetics exist and all three are attached to a purchase.
NerdsChalk’s guide, corroborated by /editions/’s reading of what each edition grants.
UnverifiedEquipping different armour does not change Emma’s model.
One reviewer, once, in passing, after a full playthrough. Nobody has confirmed or contradicted it — see /questions/does-armor-change-appearance/.
§01
Everything you can change, in one list
This is the complete inventory, and it is short enough to print rather than summarise. Three cosmetics exist across every source this site can read. Not one of them is obtainable by playing: no skin drops, none is sold by a merchant, none sits behind an achievement. If you bought a standard copy after launch, the customisation menu is empty and no amount of progress fills it.
Brown Shiba skin for Koo — granted by any pre-order.
Black Shiba skin for Koo — Digital Deluxe only.
Oni’s Hat for Emma — Digital Deluxe only.
That is the entire list. There is no face, body, hair, voice or name to set, and no class or origin to pick.
§02
Armour is the other thing people mean, and it does not change how Emma looks either
The second half of this question usually arrives as “well, does gear change my appearance” — a reasonable place to look for customisation once the character creator turns out not to exist. The answer we have is one reviewer, Skill Up, who finished the game and reports that the armour icon in your inventory changes while Emma does not: the same outfit start to finish. That is a single source in passing inside a review of something else, and this site publishes it at that grade rather than upgrading it by repeating it. The dedicated page walks through how you could check it yourself in about a minute.
§03
Why the game is built this way, as far as anyone has said
The publisher frames it as a one-person, one-dog action RPG, and Emma and Koo are named in the store copy. A fixed protagonist is a story decision rather than a missing feature, and the only reasoning anyone has offered for the armour half is Skill Up’s own guess — that keeping one outfit avoids having to account for it in cutscenes — which he flags as a guess and which is reproduced here as one. Nothing first-party explains either decision.
§04
Where the menu is, if you paid for something and cannot find it
This is the complaint behind most of the searching from people who already own the game, and the answer is that the menu does not exist yet rather than that your purchase failed. Everything cosmetic is equipped at Emma’s bed aboard the Cleanse Walker, and the Cleanse Walker is not yours until you have driven Rangifer off midway through Chapter 1. Before that there is no bed, no menu, and no indication anywhere that a bonus was applied. The cosmetics page carries the full route and the sourcing caveats on it.

What would have to change for this answer to be wrong
An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.
A patch adds an appearance editor, or a source establishes that armour changes Emma’s model. The first would be visible in the options screen on day one and would appear on /patch-tracker/; the second needs one screenshot from anybody who equips a different chest piece and looks.

Every source, with its date
A complaint posted before 30 July 2026 describes the playtest, not the game you bought, and a source whose publication date nobody captured cannot show that it postdates launch either. Both are flagged rather than quietly mixed in.
That the game is framed as a single-player action RPG about one person and one dog, with Emma and Koo named. Cited for the framing and for the absence of any character-creation language.
That three cosmetics exist, that they are equipped at the bed aboard the Cleanse Walker once it becomes available, that the Brown Shiba is a pre-order bonus and the Black Shiba and Oni’s Hat are Deluxe, and that skins do not alter combat performance. It names no cosmetic obtainable by playing.
