Beast of Reincarnation Patch Tracker: 5 Fixes Promised, 5 Shipped, 4 Still Missing

Every item GAME FREAK named for the first post-launch patch, what v1.0.7 and v1.0.8 shipped against it, and which heavily-reported PC problems still sit outside both.

5 of 5 announced headline items have shipped, across the v1.0.7 and v1.0.8 notes. Each row still says what moved it and when, and the omissions tab keeps the problems neither patch resolved.

The ledger

What was promised, and what was ignored

A promise list on its own flatters whoever made it. Both halves are kept, dated, with the evidence behind each row — the counts in the tab labels are the honest summary of where this stands.

Camera adjustmentsShipped

The complaint behind it

The camera sits too close to Emma, which makes fights harder to read than the encounter design intends — and the game ships no field-of-view slider to move it.

How that was measured

Named in press coverage of the announcement as the specific camera complaint. Independently corroborated by the mod scene: four separate ultrawide mods and a standalone Custom FOV mod all add FOV control, and the game default is a vertical FOV of 78.

This row moves when

Moved on 9 August 2026: the v1.0.7 notes name camera adjustments both in and out of combat. v1.0.8 then added Close/Medium/Far distance presets on 15 August — the first camera control the game has ever had — while still publishing no field-of-view value and listing boss-camera work as planned. Two patches in, the complaint is answered and the tooling for it is not.

Increased text sizeShipped

The complaint behind it

Subtitles and menu text are too small to read at a normal viewing distance, and there is no scaling option.

How that was measured

Raised in launch coverage across multiple outlets, and separately reported on the official Steam bug thread as menu text being "difficult or barely visible". It is also the only item on this list that the developer has effectively conceded twice, since it appears in both the announcement and the forum thread.

This row moves when

Moved on 9 August 2026: the v1.0.7 notes state that text size was adjusted throughout the game. v1.0.8 supplied the missing part on 15 August — a subtitle size option with five steps, which is the scaling control the complaint asked for. It applies to subtitles rather than to the UI, and a fix for text scaling down unintentionally elsewhere is still on the forward list.

Story pacing improvements, with further adjustment planned after this patchShipped

The complaint behind it

Story pacing — the single most consistent criticism in the professional reviews, and the reason a well-reviewed combat system landed on a mixed aggregate.

How that was measured

The critic spread on our review-scores page: across 90 critic reviews on two platforms Metacritic recorded no negative reviews at all, but only 44 positive against 43 mixed. That is the signature of a game nobody hated and slightly under half were enthusiastic about, and pacing is the criticism the mixed reviews share.

This row moves when

Moved on 9 August 2026: the v1.0.7 notes say some affinity-building conversations that could repeat in a row are now limited to once per day. v1.0.8 is where the real pacing work landed — cutscene triggers adjusted to cut consecutive plays between areas, Brad’s arrival dialogue made manual, return cutscenes after bosses adjusted, one Fuji Frontier Zone battle converted to a scripted event, and the Pilgrim’s Zone main route shortened by two areas. Skipping cutscenes is still not possible and is the item the publisher has apologised for.

The default graphics setting changed from Cinematic to Performance modeShipped

The complaint behind it

The game defaults to its Cinematic graphics preset, which costs frames on hardware that would run the game comfortably at the Performance preset.

How that was measured

Observable in the shipped build: the graphics menu opens on a preset whose upscaler is AMD FSR 1, captured on an RTX 3060 and published on our PC settings page. Changing a default is also the only item here whose effect is immediately checkable by a new installer.

This row moves when

Moved on 9 August 2026: the v1.0.7 notes state that the default cinematic cutscene setting changed from Cinematic to Performance mode. Existing Cinematic selections stay Cinematic until changed.

Other bug fixesShipped

The complaint behind it

Everything else. The developer’s own phrasing, and the row where a tracker earns its keep — an unenumerated promise cannot be checked, so this one is recorded as unenumerated rather than assumed to cover anyone’s particular bug.

How that was measured

The pinned Steam bug-report thread stood at 226 replies and the general-feedback thread at 168 when read on 9 August. The v1.0.7 notes now enumerate several bugs inside the earlier “other bug fixes” bucket.

This row moves when

Moved on 9 August 2026: itemised v1.0.7 notes exist. They add interact-button remapping, parry-window and balance adjustments, saved button icons, upscaling persistence, a V-Sync/resolution fix, the sixth Subcity 01 golem issue and a Bloom Art interaction lock fix. v1.0.8 adds twenty-four more, including three named bug fixes — cloud-streaming spawn blocking, a performance drop on one skill-mod combination, and audio-visual noise in cutscenes.

What each status actually means

The middle grade is the one doing the work. Without it, a page has to choose between calling an unconfirmed fix shipped and calling it missing, and both are wrong.

Announced

Named by the developer as intended. Nothing has shipped and no date is attached.

Shipped, unverified

A patch containing this has been released, and this site has not confirmed the change itself.

Shipped

Released, and either the notes name it or the change is observable.

Not addressed

Widely reported and absent from every developer statement so far.

Housekeeping, published

What this patch makes stale on this site

A patch that changes a default invalidates every measurement taken against the old one. Naming those pages is cheaper than discovering them afterwards, and it is the only way a reader can tell whether a page they are on has been re-checked.

Best PC settings

Currently says: The game opens on a preset whose upscaler is AMD FSR 1, captured on an RTX 3060.

Now genuinely at risk, where before it only looked it. v1.0.7 changed the default *cinematic cutscene* setting, which is not the graphics preset and not the upscaler — reading one as the other is the error four translated copies of this page had shipped. v1.0.8 is the one that touches this: it implements DLSS 4/4.5 (L/M) and FSR 4 on PC, so the upscaler list a first launch offers has changed even if the default has not. The capture is pre-15-August and needs retaking before the page describes today’s menu.

Version history

Currently says: Ultrawide and frame generation are not on the official future list, whatever else you have read.

Retired on 2026-08-18, and this one was our own correction rather than somebody else’s error. It was accurate against the v1.0.7 notes, which name three forward items and neither of these. The v1.0.8 notes name both. A correction that outlives its evidence is just a slower kind of wrong, and this row exists so the retirement is as visible as the correction was.

PC problems and fixes

Currently says: Selecting the highest fidelity preset moves the upscaler to FSR 1 Quality — the preset changes the mode, not the technology.

Superseded in substance by v1.0.8, which adds DLSS 4/4.5 (L/M) and FSR 4 as in-game options on PC. Whatever the presets now point at, "the technology never changes" cannot be assumed to hold across a patch that added two upscalers. Re-check before repeating it.

Mods

Currently says: Four ultrawide mods, each hooking the camera or the UI layout, and an upscaler mod that adds DLSS/FSR support the game lacks.

The upscaler half of that page is on borrowed time: DLSS 4/4.5 and FSR 4 shipped in-game on 15 August, so a mod that exists to add them is now competing with a menu option. The ultrawide half is next — official support is described as in final testing. This is the healthiest possible outcome for a mod page and the fastest way for one to go stale.

Review scores

Currently says: Steam users sit at Mixed, and launch-week technical complaints are over-represented in a two-day-old pool.

Two patches have now shipped against the two loudest complaints in that pool — pacing and PC options. Whether the user score moves after them is the single most interesting number on this site over the next month, and the window is now long enough to read.

The developer’s own hedge, reproduced

The 5 August announcement was explicitly subject to change. The 9 August v1.0.7 Steam notes are the shipped record; they keep all five headline items and add further named fixes, and their own closing list defers DLSS/FSR work and further story-pacing adjustments. Frame generation and ultrawide are not in that closing list — they come from a 3 August forum reply, and nothing first-party has named them since.

Beast of Reincarnation patch FAQ

The five headline items named on 5 August were: Camera adjustments; Increased text size; Story pacing improvements, with further adjustment planned after this patch; The default graphics setting changed from Cinematic to Performance mode; Other bug fixes. The official v1.0.7 Steam notes posted on 9 August ship all five headline categories and add several specific fixes. The second patch, v1.0.8 on 15 August, goes further on four of the five — camera distance presets, a subtitle size option, four separate pacing changes and twenty-four items in total.

  • GAME FREAK official account on X — first post-launch patch statementOfficial, posted 2026-08-05 in Japanese. The developer says it is taking feedback to heart and plans continuous updates, and lists the next patch — targeted within a week — as camera adjustments, larger text, story pacing improvements (with further adjustment planned), a default graphics setting changed from Cinematic to Performance, and other bug fixes, all "subject to change". Read here through two independent English reports rather than translated by us; X serves nothing useful to automated fetching.
  • Fictions support centre — Patch Notes: v1.0.7 / v1.005.000 (article 54231342026771)Official, and the single most useful thing about it is its title: the publisher files the PC and PlayStation builds as one patch under one set of notes. The body is the same fourteen items as the Steam post, so nothing in the list is new — what is new is that the notes are not PC-only, which the Steam post’s own "PC Patch Notes" heading had left open. Read 2026-08-10, and superseded on 15 August by the v1.0.8 / v1.006.000 article in the same support section.

(article 54049725653139)Official, per-platform, and maintained: Xbox Series 1.0.8.0, PS5 1.006.000, Steam 1.0.8.0 when read on 2026-08-18, against 1.0.7.0/1.005.000/1.0.7.0 on 2026-08-10. It is the only first-party page that states an Xbox build number at all, and it is edited in place with no history, so a citation of it is a citation of a date. The publisher’s own headline misspells "Reincaration"; the URL carries the typo too, so do not correct it when linking.
