Beast of Reincarnation Cross-Save and Cross-Progression

Inside the Xbox ecosystem, yes — it is an Xbox Play Anywhere title with Xbox cloud saves. Between storefronts, no: nothing published moves a save from Steam to Xbox, or from either to PS5. Which badge says what, on each of the three storefronts.

Short answer

Within one ecosystem, yes; between ecosystems, no. Xbox lists the game as Xbox Play Anywhere with Xbox cloud saves, so an Xbox console and a Windows PC on the same account share progress. Steam carries Steam Cloud, which syncs between your own Steam PCs. PlayStation lists neither cross-save nor cross-progression. No storefront publishes anything that moves a save between Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

Where this is being asked · By everyone deciding which version to buy when the same game is on Game Pass, on Steam and on PS5 — and by anyone who started on one and wants to continue on another. It is a question the three storefronts each answer for their own platform and nobody answers across them.

Evidence

The answer, broken into claims

A grade describes sourcing, not truth. Inferred means we concluded it and the reasoning is shown; unverified means someone asserted it and nobody stands behind it.

  • OfficialThe game is an Xbox Play Anywhere title and lists Xbox cloud saves.

Capability badges on the Xbox store listing, read 2026-08-06.

  • OfficialThe Steam build carries Steam Cloud and is Windows-only.

Steam appdetails API, read 2026-08-06. Category 23, and platforms windows true / mac false / linux false.

  • OfficialThe PlayStation listing carries no cross-save or cross-progression badge.

PlayStation.com badge list, read 2026-08-06. An absence on a storefront that badges the feature when present.

  • InferredSaves do not move between Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

Our conclusion from the three listings above plus the scope of Play Anywhere, which is a Microsoft-ecosystem promise by definition. Nobody has stated it as a limitation, so this is an inference from what is published rather than a quoted "no".

  • InferredNo developer or publisher statement addresses cross-platform progression.

Our check on 6 August 2026 of the launch announcement, the pinned Steam threads and the first patch statement. Recorded as a check that came back empty.

§01

What each storefront actually lists

Three platform holders, three separate answers, each read off the storefront rather than from a guide. These are capability badges, which is the strongest form this claim comes in — a storefront that lists a feature is committing to it.

  • Xbox: the capability list carries "Xbox Play Anywhere" and "Xbox cloud saves", and the platform row reads Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Handheld.
  • Steam: the appdetails API reports the Steam Cloud category, and platforms as Windows only — no macOS, no native Linux.
  • PlayStation: the badge list is PS5 Standard Edition, PS5 Pro Enhanced, offline play, one player, Remote Play, cloud streaming on Premium, and DualSense effects. No cross-save badge and no cross-progression badge.
§02

What Xbox Play Anywhere covers, and what it does not

Play Anywhere is a promise scoped to Microsoft's own ecosystem: buy or subscribe once, play on Xbox console and on Windows, with progress carried between them. Paired with the "Xbox cloud saves" badge on the same listing, that is a published answer for the console-to-PC case inside Xbox. It says nothing whatsoever about Steam. A Windows PC running the Steam build is not part of Play Anywhere — the same machine can hold both copies and they do not see each other's saves, because the entitlement, the cloud store and the save location are all different.

§03

The Steam side is narrower than people assume

Steam Cloud is real and it is listed, but it syncs your saves between machines signed into your Steam account. That is device-to-device, not platform-to-platform. If you play on Steam and later want to continue on Xbox or PS5, nothing published gets you there.

§04

How to read the PlayStation absence

Absences are the easiest thing to over-read, so precisely: PlayStation has not said "there is no cross-save". It has published a badge list that does not include one, on a storefront that does badge cross-save when a game has it. That is meaningfully stronger than silence and still weaker than a statement. The only save-related language on the page is console sharing between your own PS5s, which is a different feature entirely.

§05

What nobody has said

No developer or publisher statement addresses cross-platform progression at all — not in the launch announcement, not in the pinned Steam threads, not in the first patch statement. So the honest shape of this answer is: two storefronts publish what their own ecosystem does, one publishes nothing, and the cross-storefront question has never been put to the team in public. If you need your save to move between Steam and console, treat that as unsupported rather than unannounced.

Expiry condition

What would have to change for this answer to be wrong

An answer about a live-service game without this is an answer with a hidden expiry date.

A cross-save badge appears on the PlayStation or Steam listing, or the developer states a position. Storefront badges are the thing to watch — they change without an announcement, and they are what this page is built from.

Every source, with its date

A complaint posted before 30 July 2026 describes the playtest, not the game you bought, and a source whose publication date nobody captured cannot show that it postdates launch either. Both are flagged rather than quietly mixed in.

  • That the capability list carries "Xbox Play Anywhere" and "Xbox cloud saves", and the platform row reads Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Handheld. This is the entire published basis for cross-device saves on this game.

  • That the Steam build carries the Steam Cloud category and reports platforms as Windows only. Cited for what Steam Cloud is — device-to-device sync inside Steam — and for the absence of any cross-platform category.

  • A negative, read off a storefront that does badge cross-save when a game has it: the badge list carries no cross-save and no cross-progression. The only save language present is console sharing between your own PS5 consoles.
