Entanglement and homing shots — BltzZ’s early power setup

A second named creator’s early loadout, recorded the same day and independently: the campfire skill-point farm, Helm Splitter first, instant entanglement off kills, homing ranged shots, and Roots on Koo to pin bosses.

§01

What it does

The premise

Where RPG Division optimises one combo, this build optimises the resource behind every combo. The entanglement gauge starts at two bars and goes to seven; a full gauge means the time-slow overdrive, and the overdrive lasts as long as the bar does. So the build is arranged to refill the gauge for free — kills can instantly max it, and a ranged weapon with tracking shots produces kills constantly. The creator is candid at 01:30 that he over-invested in the entanglement branch himself and would tell you to take Helm Splitter first.

The loop

  1. Farm the first campfire. It sits surrounded by infinitely respawning enemies and each kill is a skill point (00:00–01:30).
  2. Take Helm Splitter early, before going deep on anything else (02:00).
  3. Fight at range so kills come often; homing shots make accuracy optional and pierce into nearby enemies (04:30, 08:00).
  4. Each kill can instantly fill the entanglement gauge — he puts the chance at 35% when invested (04:00).
  5. Cash a full gauge as overdrive, which slows time for as long as the bar lasts (04:30).
§02

Skills

Skill slots, and what is deliberately left out

  1. Helm Splitter02:00

Called "probably the best move in the game" and recommended before the entanglement branch he admits he rushed. Interrupts most enemy attacks — not boss attacks, though he says it still dodges their grounded moves. The spelling here is the creator’s own, typed into his chapter marker, not a caption reading.

  2. The entanglement branch — the right tree01:30

Raises the gauge from a default of about two bars to seven. He calls the extra bars a game-changer for any playstyle and the time-slow overdrive the reason, then immediately warns that it is easy to get trapped going deep here first — which is what he did.

  3. Instant entanglement04:00

A chance on kill to fill the whole gauge at once, from one bar to the maximum. He states the chance can be raised to 35% and that pairing it with a ranged weapon is what makes it reliable, because ranged kills are frequent.

  4. Homing shots08:00

On the left side of the tree. Ranged shots track nearby enemies and pierce through them; maxed at five, he says it fully tracks every nearby enemy. This is the engine that keeps instant entanglement firing.

  5. Rapid Cooling — mod on Koo’s Higanbana Seeds?05:30

Grants Koo one ATB per hit against burning enemies, and the move hits three or more times while burning them itself. The default mod in that slot regenerates 1.5% of Emma’s HP per hit, which he rates good but second best. The move name reaches us as "Pig and Bon" in the captions; the record it links to is Higanbana.

  6. Roots — Koo06:00

Binds and freezes bosses in place. His argument for it is specific: some bosses move too much to land a heavy combo on, and Roots holds them still through it. He recommends investing early. The spelling is from his own chapter marker.

  7. Entanglement spirit stones07:30

His top priority in the stone slots. They open every fight with +3 ATB for Koo — seven, in his framing — and +3 entanglement for Emma, so a combo is available immediately rather than after a build-up. He compares them to first-strike materia.

  8. Onslaught, Fortification and Sharpshooter stones08:00

Onslaught for Vigor and Fortification for defence, which he calls the strong early pair. Sharpshooter gives a 25% chance to restore one of Koo’s ATB. Onslaught and Vigor are independently named by RPG Division, which is what takes both out of single-source territory.

  9. Armour with more stone slots07:00

The slot count is the constraint, not the stones. He advises holding out for armour with six slots, and notes stones differ in cost — some are worth three points in a single slot, which is the shape to look for.

  10. Blade Art rendered "Kiku"?05:00

A late-game Blade Art he calls the best combo in the game and the only skill he would max out fully. He says the damage seems wrong even before upgrading it. Listed for completeness and flagged: the name exists only as caption audio, it is not in his chapter markers, and no second source names it.

Execution

The parts that are technique, not gear

Copying the skill order gets you none of this. These are the patterns the creator demonstrates on camera.

The first-campfire skill-point farm 00:00

The very first campfire in the game sits surrounded by enemies that respawn indefinitely. Each kill gives roughly one skill point; he goes from 37 to 43 in about a minute on camera, resting at the campfire to reset the spawns. Skill costs scale hard — he cites early nodes at 8 to 15 points and later ones at 88 — so the farm matters more the further in you go.

Growing a bloom to slam from 03:00

R1 then square creates a bloom, Emma jumps to it, and the slam comes from there. Koo can also create one. This is the same height-then-slam idea RPG Division builds his whole loadout around, arrived at independently and described in different button terms — the strongest single point of agreement between the two builds.

Seed, then Roots, then the combo 06:30

Against mobile bosses: hit with a seed, throw Roots to pin them, and spend the pin on the heavy combo they would otherwise walk out of.

§04

Honest limits

What this build is bad at

A build page without this section is an advertisement.

  • The creator names his own mistake: he went deep on the entanglement branch first and says he cannot recommend enough that you take Helm Splitter before it. Read the tree priority here as a correction he is issuing against himself.
  • Instant entanglement is a 35% chance, not a rotation. A build that plans around the overdrive being available is planning around a coin flip that lands twice in five.
  • The homing-shot engine assumes ammunition. Nothing in this video addresses running out, and the one later-boss capture this site holds has a creator running dry mid-fight.
  • Everything from about 05:00 on is his mid and late game, not the early setup the rest of the video describes. The Blade Art in particular he explicitly says is "not till later".
  • He describes several things as "broken" and "busted". No number in this video is a measurement, and none is repeated here as one.

Questions about this build

This creator says Helm Splitter, and he says it against his own play — he went entanglement-first and calls it a trap. That puts him opposite LaserBolt and alongside IGN on priority, though not on which branch Helm Splitter sits on.
