Beast of Reincarnation PC Problems and Fixes

Ultrawide black bars, film grain, traversal stutter, VRAM crashes and launch black screens — pick the symptom and get the steps, each marked for how well attested it actually is.

Symptoms are ordered by what the official Steam forum is actually arguing about, measured by reply volume rather than picked by feel — and on that measure display and resolution problems outweigh everything else, including the pinned bug-report thread. Every step says how well attested it is before it says what to do.

Black bars down both sides on a 21:9 or 32:9 monitor

Not supported natively, and there is no field-of-view slider either. A developer has named ultrawide as targeted for a fix, with no date attached. Until then the only workaround is a community mod.

Why it is on this page: Display and resolution complaints are the loudest single cluster on the official Steam forum, across the launch bug megathread and a dedicated ultrawide thread.

  1. Confirm there is no official option yetOfficial

No aspect-ratio, pillarbox or field-of-view setting ships in the display menu, and the store page claims no ultrawide support. This is a missing feature rather than a misconfiguration.

  2. Know that a fix has been named but not datedOfficial

A developer posting in the launch bug megathread on 3 August named ultrawide support and frame generation as things targeted for fixes. No date, no scope, no patch note — and the same post makes claims about 4K and subtitles that players in that thread dispute. The full record is on our ultrawide question page.

  3. Install UE4SS, then the ultrawide fixThird-party mod

The community fix is distributed on Nexus Mods and requires UE4SS in the game’s Win64 binary directory first. Separate builds are published for 21:9 and 32:9; installing the wrong one is the common failure.

  4. Expect to set FOV yourselfThird-party mod

The mod removes the pillarboxing and applies its own field-of-view scaling — its published defaults are 100 for 21:9 and 115 for 32:9 — and it resets the camera during cutscenes, because widening the FOV through a scripted scene is what breaks them.

  5. Check the skill tree specificallyThird-party mod

The skill tree cursor misaligns at ultrawide aspect ratios independently of the black bars. The mod lists a fix for it, which is a good indication the game’s UI layout assumes 16:9 in more than one place.

Still unknown

What is missing is a date and a scope, not an acknowledgement. "Targeted for fixes" in a forum reply is not a patch note, it does not say whether that means a proper 21:9 render or just wider black bars, and nothing has shipped yet. Anyone giving you a version number for it is guessing.

What each confidence tier means

A benchmarked measurement and a forum rumour set in identical type is a page telling you they are the same thing. They are not, and which one you are reading changes whether it is worth reinstalling a driver over.

Official

Stated by the developer, the publisher or the platform holder.

Measured

Someone benchmarked it on camera and the number is quotable.

Community

Players report it works. Plausible, widely repeated, and not verified by us.

Third-party mod

A fix that exists only as a community mod. It modifies the game and carries the usual risks.

Deliberately absent

Advice this page will not give you

Half the value of a troubleshooting page is telling you which of the things you already found is worthless. A page that silently omits a popular fix looks incomplete rather than careful.

"Update to Nvidia driver 560.xx or newer — it contains optimizations for this game."

The version number appears on optimization blogs and traces back to no Nvidia release note, no game-ready driver announcement and no developer statement. A specific version number is a checkable claim, which is exactly why publishing an unsourced one is worse than publishing none. Clean-install your driver; ignore the number.

Per-setting frame numbers copied from launch-week "best settings" articles.

The measured figures this site does publish come from one tester who changed one setting at a time on camera. Most articles quoting percentages for this game do not say what was tested, on what hardware, or at what resolution.

Registry edits and engine .ini tweaks for stutter.

Nothing establishes these do anything here, and they are the hardest change for a player to reverse before filing a clean bug report.

Beast of Reincarnation PC problems FAQ

Not natively. It pillarboxes to 16:9 on 21:9 and 32:9 displays, there is no field-of-view slider, and no in-game setting changes either. A developer named ultrawide support as targeted for a fix in the launch bug megathread on 3 August, without giving a date or a scope. Until it ships, the only workaround is a community mod on Nexus Mods, which needs UE4SS installed first.
